Tenda routers any good??
Basically after upgrading to a higher speed package need a new router..to piggyback of existing fibre router(use as the modem)..wasn't expecting to buy a new one and ISP has nothing to help..I know these are cheap but are they cheerful or shall I just avoid..cheers

ISPs always buy whatever is cheapest. Routers which you buy from the ISP are sufficient unless you have special needs, but they are garbage.

Junk... get Linksys or Asus
Something that is fully docsis 3.x compliant

I had a bad experience with Tenda routers, got one in the fall and worked well initially but by the spring was having issues and by the summer hit it was dead.

Replaced with a TP-link, no problems since (4 years now)...

The Archer A6 looks like a decent budget kit - ac1350, mu-mimo and gig for $45 usd

Routers and modems should be replaced every 3-5 years for security reasons unless it allows continuous future firmware updates.

Ok thanks.. unfortunately it's a router attached to the wall with the fibre cable running directly through the wall into it..the company installed it..and they have nothing newer out or at least never told me..I'll keep me eyes peeled for something decent, thans

cable rg59-6 use f connectors

thats for a cable modem
most can be set to work as a dedicated modem if you use your own router
(it will make no difference which lan port used on it you plug the router into)

Optical Network Terminal unit ONT-U an exclusively fiberoptic network modem. He just needs to patch a standard router into the network with the RJ-45 / Ethernet ports on the ONT.

Do not open the ONT those loops of fibre cable are aligned exactly using a special tool don't mess around with it because they're usually fibre spliced.
