Use some window tint, like you can buy for car windows
Why not just add a resistor on the lighting power cable to reduce the brightness...

All you need is a soldering iron, solder wire, cable cutters, resistor and some heatshrink.

what kind of lights do you have?
if they have a controller you can lower it

or use resistor/pot or a standalone controller

or 1m of led strip tubing is cheap and will dim it some

of if you have more electronic knowledge, you can take an old display and use its lcd panel

*takes an insane ammount of backlighting to make it look good and works as an extended display on the system

That's awesome. Been wondering what to do with my side panel (just windowed) and I was thinking of modifying it with some tempered glass but I like that LCD idea better (have a 24" FHD monitor in the shed doing nothing).

using an old vga 4:3 or 5:4 around 15-19in would work best (to run off usb -> vga gpu or the onboard/apu)
its not possible to cut down the size of an lcd panel, but you can hide the edges (underscan) if the panel is not large enough for the hole, those parts will be usable by windows, but not seen from the outside
most displays (not using their own backlighting) can run on 12v < 2a
I have Phanteks Enthoo Primo case and I just did a quick measure up. My 28" 4K monitor almost fits in the windowed section of the side panel, the height of the monitor is a bit longer by 60mm if used in portrait. I should have no issues with the 24" FHD panel.

I'd have to look into this more. I don't like the idea of making the inside of my PC near all white (for the transparent look) and I would probably wire the monitors power directly to the big PSU, I have a dual system mounted in the case. I'd also mod the system to use the screen from the HDMI on the GPU, initial thoughts at the moment but will see how easy it is to do, costs may play into it as well.

Find a shop installing foil (like skyfol) on cars or buildings, ask for some scraps of the desired transluency.
