New motherboard and CPU, fresh Windows install needed ?
Hello I recently purchased a new CPU and motherboard, ryzen 5 2600 and ROG STRIX b450-F, I'm upgrading a Xeon 5650 and t3500 motherboard but will I need to format the ssd and start fresh or can I just plug into the new system then install all the new drivers that are needed. Thank you .

Changing things like cpu or ram on the same motherboard wouldn't warrant any OS reinstall, but changing the motherboard where you are changing to a different chipset and such, yes it will most likely Dave you from headache and various odd issues by taking the time to clean install your os and all latest drivers for all the now current hardware again.

It doesn't take all that much time to do this either, especially with Win10

No need to fresh install , it works perfectly fine without , maybe not for all people but these new motherboards are pretty good, but if people want to fresh install they can but people like you come across like it has to be done or the computer will break , but realistically you don't have to fresh install Windows . Maybe 5+ years ago but times are changing .

Just moved HDD with installed Win7 from one PC to another, it installed ~30 drivers and works just fine.
