I can't type anything on Windows search bar!
Yeah, long ago when I just was playing with my PC, I wanted to search something, so I pressed the windows key and started typing, well, surprise was that no matter what I tried to type, windows didn't search anything, like, if my keyboard was disconnected. I still having this problem nowadays, and discovered not while ago, that I can't type much at any Microsoft pre-installed app, like Windows 10 Skype version, I can't type anything. Or at config, when I tried to uninstall something, I wanted to type the name of the app, but It didn't typed anything, as I said, like if my keyboard was dead or smth ( but no, my keyboard is alive, and it's pretty good ). EVEN MORE, I can't type Wi-Fi passwords for example! I tried to connect to my internet after a shutdown, and when I tried to type something, BOOM, It didn't type anything!!..
But, when it comes to apps you install, like, google chrome, discord, even steam, I can type; but not in pre-installed apps.......

Is there ANY solution to this? I know I'm not the only one with this problem

Oh and I have Windows 10 btw...:steamsad:

Try another keyboard, try the keyboard on another pc.
Download Ubuntu on a flash USB, run it and try the keyboard, if it still doesn't work it isn't an OS issue.

Yeah I've tried that with Kali Linux and it worked perfectly, looks like it's an OS problem..

Click on the Icon that looks like a folder to bring up to bring up WIndows File Explorer.Click in the little box that has a magnifying glass next to it on the right side of the address bar. If you start typing your not getting any charcters being typed there.

Alright. That I believe is the WIndows key and S, a dialog should pop up and you just start typing. If that is not functioning for you the Windows Search Service might be turned off.

Check whether the service is running or not by hitting Win + R, typing services.msc, then scrolling down to find it. It is called Windows Search If it says “Running” in the Status column, it’s running (obviously). If not, you’ll have to start it manually.

In the Properties window click on the “Start” button to start the service. Also, make sure that the Startup type is set to “Automatic” or “Automatic (Delayed Start).” This ensures that the service will automatically start at every system startup. Once you are done with the changes, click ‘OK.’

Hmm. I don't know then. Good luck. Maybe somebody else has an idea of what is causing the issue for you.

Might be a Cortana issue.

Check this site below for possible fixes. ( if you haven't already checked it )
https://www.maketecheasier.com/fix-windows-10-start-menu-search/

I'm oldschool regarding Windows, i never liked the "Live Tile Metro Startscreen User Interface" since Win 8 with those boring simplified settings and menus. What a hipster bull**** !!

So i'm using Classic Shell with Classic Explorer settings, i have Win 10 but it looks like Win 7.
desktop and the old configuration screen is all i need anyway.
