Alienware X51 random Freezes/Crashes
half the games i play crash in the middle of the game and my tv says there is no signal so i have to manually hold the power button down for it to shut down sometimes even on low settings. i have read some issues regarding that pc that it has a low power supply and it doesnt provide the parts with enough power. maybe i can replace the case with a higher power supply???

Well although i still believe you can just swap the PSU, your second option is to build a PC, much better than getting a prebuilt.
believe me if it where that easy i would do it and not ask here but you seem to know about this computer stuff i was thinking to just change the case and implant al my parts over to that one https://www.amazon.co.uk/Sharkoon-Shark-Zone-PC-Case/dp/B00TJBCASG/
No need to change cases if the other one can fit a new PSU.

What does that have to do with the case? And please let me see the link, i doubt it is true.

You're not replacing that PSU with anything standard on the market.

after exactly 2 years i found the solution to this problem its the powerboard of the alienware x51 r2 that doesnt supply the graphicscard with enough power then needed for the graphicscard. and because the graphicscard needs to go up to 170 watts at some demanding games the system itself shuts down to prevent further damage on the system. so the only thing that can prevent those x51s to crash and randomly shutdown is to either underclock your graphicscard or buy yourselve a new graphicscart that is low on watt usage. i figured this out after checking my temperatures because i thought it would be a overheating issue but it wasnt temps where stable. after that i just turned all my power limit down to 71% in msi afterburner and decidet to put memory and core clock both to the lowest possible -502. and then all of the sudden all my games worked and i faced no crashes or random shutdowns. hope this helps another x51 owner and if you have the x51 r1 then the powerboard is even more aggresive and you have to have a very low power consuming graphicscard to fix the issue. im going to reply to more questions if needed feel free to ask ;)

just swap it into a m-atx or itx case with better airflow
and pick up a quality 500+w power supply

update 2020

i was upgrading to a GTX 1060 6gb which uses 120 watt maximum and after 1 year of useing that card i faced no crashes/issues what so ever. so i can confirm that the issue was my old GTX 670 card which used 170 watts maximum and crashed/shut down my pc. long story short the less it uses watt usage the better the experience. on more questions regarding this issue pls contact me.

You should do what I did with my X51 R2. Take the CPU, GPU, ram and put it into a real PC case. Get a cheap mother board and a copy of windows and get a power supply and be done with how limited the x51 really. Don't get me wrong, I liked mine and it gave me the PC bug but it's just too confined and limited to be upgradeable passed a certain point.

i always liked the feeling of a console so yeah i prefer a small pc over a tower case for example. it is wort it for me i like to move my pc around bedroom and livingroom and i always play my games with a controller. regarding the upgrade issue i realized that i had to make some sacrifices but thinking about it its ok knowing that graphicscards are getting smaller and less power consuming wich is good news for x51 owners. i originaly planed to buy an alienware alpha thank god i didnt :steamfacepalm:

You can get a mini itx case and have it small and portable but I get what you're saying. Hopefully you have a blower card and are using a custom fan curve to keep your GPU cool. I remember the temps of my 4770 and gtx 970 in that thing lol.
