Ryzen 3 1200 bad?
I keep seeing benchmarks that say that this cpu is actually bad for gaming. Is it not at least as good as last gen intel? I was thinking about buying this

If you overclock it, it ends up slightly slower than a stock 7400/7600 non k., It's a great little cheap chip.

Intel and AMD CPU's have their pros and cons but from what iv learned I can tell you that it does come down to user preference, especially if your on a budget or whatever. AMD CPU's have longer life expectancy, require a cheaper motherboard, and don't heat up as bad as a intel. It's cons are that their not quite as powerful as a intel but still pack the necessary punch. But answering your question, I honestly think intel i3 and and ryzen 3 might be outdated? I'm not sure but it would be worth it to get a ryzen 5 and you can use the stock cooler to save money if that's your issue. You can also use intel like I said it's your preference:

The 8th gen i3 is faster than the 7th gen i5, both having 4 cores but the new i3 clocks a bit higher for a cheaper price, likewise the new 6 core i5 is faster than the 7th gen i7.

It comes down to budget at the end of the day, if you can stretch to a R5 1600 or to an Intel i5 8400 it would be a decent performance upgrade that would likely last you longer.

i3 8100 or Ryzen 1200 are good budget cpu.
Many games won't be affected by bottleneck.

i3 8100 has Ryzen 1600 performance level in games. Ryzen 1200 is slightly slower than Pentium G4560. You can check that, for instance, at tom's hardware if you wish.

But can it run Arma 3 KOTH? That's the real question.

It's not particularly powerful and if you could afford better, you'd buy better. But it's very affordable and when overclocked it performs amazingly well for the price.

It gives people without a lot of money access to a decent gaming chip, one that's reliable and does a satisfactory job in even the latest games. Better yet it's on a platform with years of future upgrade potential. And for that reason it's worthy of respect.

What's your total budget for a gaming PC?

Not too demanding on cpu a good 4 core should do you fine ^.

Coffee lake i3 4 core 4 thread has the same c/t count as kaby lake i5 and coffee lake has a slight improvement on ipc so CL i3 is just better for less $.

Ps, don't even think about the G4560.
