Fullscreen any different than borderless windowed fullscreen?
On many games, yes it is.
Borderless = still inside an OS Desktop Window, it's just Frameless, hence the name, Borderless. This is usually best because this means the game never stops running, it never pauses it's resources. Some games require this to avoid crashing. This also means that doing things such as ALT+TAB or WINKEY+TAB are seamless operations, the game still runs properly in the background without any interruptions to it. This mods is also basically required if you plan to use more then 1 screen, or to do any real multi-tasking while the game is running.
Full Screen = Makes the OS Desktop and everything else a lesser priority and make this app Top-Most at all times. This mode is a problem for many games because in order to ALT+TAB or WINKEY+TAB this means the game must now pause the screen for this app and minimize it. This can cause some games to crash. Full Screen Mode is not for multi-tasking folks.
Back in the old days, it was often helpful to run Games in Full Screen Mode to ensure your hardware resources were more of the focus point for the running game then anything else. Nowa days we don't need to do that.
