Rx 570 1440p?

I'm thinking about upgrading to a rx 570 from a rx 560. I would like to know could if I run 1440p low/medium in games with that card.

I am playing with a rx 570 card replacing a 7870ghz à 1980p with a vp2468.

Unfortunally the display was faulty and viewsonic replaced it by a vp2768

27" 2560x1440 à 60hz + hardware calibration possible, better contrast, and colors accuracy.

I accepted the trade.
I was thinking 2560x1440 gameplay with a medium performance card like rx 570 8gb would be a no.

In fact i'm a little bit amazed most games turn well this way with just some settings dropped in games.

I use vsync to negate visible tearing, and i can say rx 570 even playing 1920x1080, won't be powerfull enough to have an advantage with enhanced sync.


Anyway, i will try to explain, why i would choose at minimum a rx 580 or rx 590 or 1660 ti if i had the budgect to replace a rx 560:


I have a i5 4670 k oc @ 4.2ghz

20 Gb of ram @ 1600mhz cas 888 ( both 2400Mhz and 1600Mhz kit run in dual channel so it's ok)

i own a rx570 pulse 8gb oc @ 1400 oc core , and 1900mhz timing 1 memory clock.



here i will be wrong about advices i give here , it's just having a rx 570 from a long time, i have explored it a bit so i begin to have clues about performances i would choose for a next upgrade.


Rx 570 from a rx 560 , is not a good trade.
Rx 590 would be ok at 2560x1440 60 fps.

At last try to get a rx 580 with off course a good cooling heatsink + fans (no need for custom aftermarker cooler, just a good stock cooler) if price is ok.

If you find an amazing offer like rx 570 @ 100€ more or less why not a rx 570 but:

Different brands / modelfs of gpu has memory chips, not ocing well.
You would ask in forum or check data about the card having memory that could reach 2000mhz min without any problem.

Same for core oc.

I have a good enough cooler on rx 570 pulse, i would have tryed a better oc than 1400mhz clock on clock, but even with a huge voltage incrase manually, this beast is not stable enough past 1410 or 1420 mhz.

Again, memory oc is a no past 2000mhz or 1900mhz timing 1. that is almost atsame performance than rx 580 stock.

Because of memory chip used.
Over volting the memory , didn't helped either.


Why not choosing a rx 580 instead of trying to find a good ocer rx 570 ?
I think it does oc better than rx 570 price is not too much, and at last stock rx 580 is better than rx 570 oc by a low margin.

You would ask advice on model and brand to buy, as my sapphire pulse has a memory chip not able to oc well if sticking to rx 570 choice.

Same for core, some cards like mine are ok 1400 mhz, but artefacts arise past 1410 Mhz even with increased manually voltage.



rx 590 would be the min goal at last to not regreat rx 560 transition to a better gpu.
on Amd side off course, i dunno about nvidia but 1660 ti is also a min card to use for better experrience.

RX 590 is not a 1440p card. 1080p is suited for it.

It kinda is i have no problem at all using it in a 1440p right now, 60 fps capped with rtss works great in the games i have, maybe i should say is not the normal one, is slighter oc, is the nitro + sapphyre gold edition

I don't think the RX 580 overclocked(AKA an RX 590) is a bad option for 1440p60, it's just not the best 1440p card is all. Sure, it won't go much over 60 and some games are particularly "anti-AMD" so it would suffer there, but for better optimized games, it's just fine.

Yes I got a crappy prebuilt but I'm looking to upgrade from my Rx 560 to a Rx 570 and get a new monitor. Yes I know AM3+ isn't good in 2019 but I would much rather just wait a couple years and build a new computer entirely.

Yes I got a crappy prebuilt but I'm looking to upgrade from my Rx 560 to a Rx 570 and get a new monitor. Yes I know AM3+ isn't good in 2019 but I would much rather just wait a couple years and build a new computer entirely.

In the meanwhile you can get a huge upgrade for dirt cheap buying a fx 8350 and a rx570/80 for 1080p 60 fps

edit mistake : i was looking the price of fx 8350... they are expansive as fk.. a ryzen 5 2600 is far cheaper than the fx rn (i looked only on amazon)

Well, 1440p on my RX 470 isn't really viable, unless you don't mind frame-rate in the 30s. The 570 is a little bit faster, but not much.

You need a better psu to go above a 570 gpu. And 8gb ram isn't gonna cut it.

Look at getting a quality 650w psu and Vega64 perhaps. 5700 series is a mess right now due to crappy drivers.

If your PSU was a high quality model you could run the RX 570, but an unbranded one is gonna be pushing it.

It would be nice to have a less blurry upscaling method on disp^lays and gpu those days.
There is a program available to upscale windows with border, i hope in gpu driver you could integrate the method used by this program, this time with fullscreen windows and borderless.
