[Solved] Can you disconnect the HDD LED?
I know my storage works, and I get annoyed by the flashing light when I download things. Would disconnecting it from the motherboard do no harm?

Why not just put something over the light
The activity light comes in handy when troubleshooting certain things
Disconnecting HDD LED is easier than putting something over the light.
I doubt there's a way to troubleshoot anything with HDD LED.

No harm, OP. Just unplug it.

No harm. That's like asking if it's harmful for the lamp to remove the lightbulb.

Sure. Go ahead. No harm in not connecting it.

As long as you're not using a hammer to do so. ;)

yup you only have to disconnect 1 of the 2 HDD LED from the motherboard which already does the trick and can be connected any time even if the system runs. Besides you cant troubleshoot anythign from it and newer cases already start to not use a HDD LED anymore at all.

A small piece of electrical tape will work wonders. If it's the cheap stuff, it will be thin and translucent enough so you can still see the LED just muted, which has a very cool window-tint type of effect. Be creative!

pulling one of the 2 pins out of the motherboard is easier doesnt leave sticky residue and can be put back at any time

Just spent this morning like 2 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hours cleaning up leftovers of some tape from a fine case I bought the other day, geez, why would people do that?
Then again, this case got other interesting why-s. Like front intake was not between the front panel and case but inside. And it was connected to 12v instead of 5v fan was rated for. And it had a resistor soldered in the middle of 12v rail so the fan would end up having something around 5v in result. It's like a perfect representation of "because I can".
