Do motherboards affect your microphone?
My microphone is very quiet in everything and idk how to fix it except from boosting it which i dont want to do too much but i got one of the cheapest or maybe the cheapest am4 motherboard cause im dumb (ab350m not pro 4) and i tried multiple mics and idk what else could be the problem. Audio is fine its just microphone volume. Do motherboards affect microphones or does the inbuilt sound have something to do with the mic. Just so i know if i need to upgrade it

if it is about volume then mostlikely not.

Of corse your mainboard, or to be correct your soundchip, changes your volume. It makes a huge different if your soundchip is rated for 105dB or maybe 117db....headphones or microphones with USB are not effected by the internal soundcard from your mainboard, only by the soundchip integrated in the audiodevice

Invest an XLR setup. You won’t regret.

BS - no need to do that for the casual gamer. Even for musicians there plenty studio grade USB mics. However the advantage for gamers is non existing.

I can agree, for the most part. As someone that does audio work, I use USB more often than XLR setups. Unless doing anything live or a big setup, which then it is XLR.

Correct me if I am wrong but that ASRock board has a Realtek integrated sound card doesn't it?

What microphone are you using?

Like most boards yes it has a Realtek HD codec. Some are better then others, as there are varying differences between the Realtek codec models, just like differences between sound cards from the same brand.

If the audio device is connected via BT or USB then such device has its own sound chip and driver, along with software settings that aren't controlled by your motherboard onboard audio, such as realtek.

we talk about microphone volume not speaker volume - and if every microphone captures a low sound then its not about the motherboard - every motherboard should support decent volume.

105dB or 117dB also makes no real difference - both is way to loud, if you get a sound that is really low volume wise (barely hearable) then its not your motherboard but some settings or driver.

Most motherboards lack a mic amp though and this is often the problem with certain mics
