Recommended PSU for R9 290
Mobo : Gigabyte Z97-hd3
CPU : Corei5-4690k
Gpu : R9 290 - Intel HD 4600
Ram : HyperX 8Gbram 4x4
PSU : GX 750W bronze "Cooler master"
Cooler : Cooler Master

These are the current specs

but the PSU died and can no longer run the pc with the R9 290 in it.
So I want to buy a new one

Can it run on a 650W type ? Since those are in my price range

for reference I Have 0 interest in overclocking and will never do it.

your entire PC will not even get close to 400W usage so even a nice 500-550W will be enough. If you're on budget: SeaSonic S12II or M12II.

If it's factory OC'd 300ish watts alone, no OC 264ish watts.

I'd be looking at another 750w psu but if you must 650w min, 500w is laughable sorry but 500w is out to lunch.

500w is plenty for most PCs.

so yous ay yourself that he wont reach 300W but say 500W is laughable he needs a 650W minimum? Care to eleborate since you counter argument you same argument in one sentence?

you can run that system happily on 450w - 500w, 750 is massively overkill, components dont use near their 'rated' power draw.

So I am drawing the conclusion that 650W is the way to go ...thing is I live in a country that does not have "Shipping" So I have to buy it on U.S and have someone bring it to me "i have a friend coming to the country so thats how "
And there will be no way for me to return it.
Thats why i need to be 100% sure.

No, 450-500w is all you need and will be considerably cheaper.

all ppl that commented so far agree that you not getting close to 400W power draw and all despite one agree that you wont need more then 500W as the majority of all users dont need more then 500W.

So why get a 650W which is noticably more expensive then a 500W PSU while not getting close to max it?

Just a touch on why did it died... While the CM GX series are not known for high quality, and overall budget units tend to react worse to fluctuations in the mains (power at the outlet) so hopefully you have at the very least, a 1000J surge protector that's decent enough quality (home depot has no-names for less than $15, and most come with usb outlets that can do 3A charging as a bonus).

A bump up would be a line-interactive UPS and/or a power conditioner, but that is only really needed if you are in a noisy area (construction, neighbor with an arc welder, etc).

I am sort of not an expert on this I guess "im more software than hardware" so i just figured its safter to get a higher power just in case ? Not safe thinking i guess ?
i'll get 550W just to be careful .

The safe thinking you do is wrong and not needed. What they suggested is suffice, you don't need more power.

Can’t forget that you want to get a higher quality psu to prevent failure.

Well I still have a few more questions
We have a LOT of power outages and i dont think i'll have the budget to buy a UPS or stuff like that, is any PSU capable of avoiding getting hurt by that ? or do i need to buy a ups or whatever

nah well think like this. In towns where you only allowed to drive 35mph is it safer to own a car that could drive 200mph over a car that could drive 100mph?

the wattage says nothing about the quality nor about how safe it is. same as the rating. the rating only says how much power out of the wall you need to reach a certain wattage. for a 800W PSu to reach 800W with a 80% rating you need 1,000W out of the wall. That still doesnt say how safe the PSU is.

Your entire PC has no way to consume 400W without OC. Unless you go SLI/CFX there is also ny way to reach 500W power consumption with a little expetion of highly overclocking CPU's like threadripper or i9.
If you're on budget I would look into a 520W SeaSonic S12II or M12II which are good bang for the buck while still having a more then just an acceptable quality.
