How often do you buy a new gaming PC?
For me I buy a new gaming PC when my PC no longer reaches the minimum requirements for new games, but I have a GTX 1070, I7 7700HQ, 16GB DDR4 RAM, 1TB HDD and 258GB SSD, so that won’t be until at least five years from now, I currently pass the recommended settings on all titles I’ve come across.

Minimum Requirements are WAY too low; that means playing @ like 720p with everything turned down for visuals. No way I'd wait that long.

Laptops = yea you're outdated every 2-3 years, doesn't matter what Laptop you buy, it can't sustain performance for very long.

Depends on what and how you want to play it, no?

Some people are into high resolution / graphics, others just play competitive games with potato requirements. Heck, i was fine with my 660 for years, because i never played anything GPU demanding.

So, how often? Basically never, because i upgrade the part that i need to be upgraded.
It's a constant flow of parts.

Around 5 years, my last pc was phenom ii 955 with ATI 5770, current pc is ryzen 1600 with Rx 580. I stop playing new games on the last 1 or 2 years of the pc life (play old games instead) because it would be hard to get close to the recommended spec.

Around the five year mark for MB and Cpu. I have some hard drives from 2005 that are still going strong in a media server. Older parts go to HTPC or home server. Running a fx8350 now and ready to upgrade, well at least i have puechased the DDR4 ram. Now i just need the right sale for the rest.

Then I guess u'd be waiting a while; all the sale come between "Back to School" around Aug and then til around Xmas; that's basically it.

Next sales should be around "Spring Cleaning" time period for the most part.

Why did you buy DDR4 RAM? Buy everything you need to get it working, all at once.
Motherboard + CPU + RAM

As I get older, the upgrade cycle gets shorter, so pretty much a new build when I upgrade the CPU, and that tends to be when the CPU's first come out, so a athalon 4000, phenom 2 965BE, i5 3570k, i7 4790k, i9 7900x, can't remember what CPU I had prior to the athalon, but GPU were probably nvidia 5300, 7800GTX, 7900GTX(warranty replacement), refreshed 8800GT, 470, 670, sli 980, sli1080ti and a temporary Vega 64.

For me it's when games won't run as I want them to, or there is a significant enough jump in performance and tech that I can afford at the time, next upgrade will be to see how the next gen x299 chips do and how fast the next 2080ti or 1180ti comes in at so I can still sell my parts for a large part of their value now I'm pretty much at as high end as you can go, it will be cheaper to upgrade each generation if the jump is worth it.

Whenver I get the upgrade itch, which happens more often the older I get and the more extra money I have lying about.

The most frugal man on earth i grabbed the DDR4 on sale 16gigs for 130.00. I dont believe the build is ever finished. Always some new and better platform just around the corner. Well at least i didnt get stung by the 7700 itch.

not too often, my last pc had 3 gpu upgrades before i changed the processor so that last around 6 years..my new processor should last around that long with the gpu upgrades every 2 years.

I don't.

I upgrade the GPU several times when I need the boost whilst keeping the same CPU. When my current cpu can't perform well enough in newer games that I want to play (even when overclocked.) I will purchase a new Motherboard, Cpu and Ram.

As for anything else there is really no need to replace them if they still do what is needed. HDD/SSD, PSU, Case etc
Not rly often ~ 6-7 yrs cycle..
Buying high-end parts once to have less upgrades.
My 1080 will do fine the next yrs.

Workstation laptop upgrade is free anyway. So idc.

My other itx bedroom/gaming/media rig is ~ 6 yrs old now and did so far a great job, but coz of the new tv & age, time for some upgrades. But still not sure about the new parts yet.

I don't buy "gaming pc's" i upgrade what i already have. Anything with the word "gaming pc" is usually a gimmick.
CPU, RAM & Mobo i upgrade every 3-4 years usually.
I upgrade my GPU every year or so, as long as their is a significant increase in performance 20+%
