New RAM or a new MOBO BUNDLE? (Running on i7 3770k / GTX 980 / 8GB DDR3)
As the title states, I am currently using the i7 3770k with a stock clock/cooler, an MSI GTX 980 along with 8 GB DDR3 RAM. I am currently in a dilemma between purchasing a rather cheap upgrade to 16GB DDR3, or buying a whole complete bundle to support DDR4 (this will have me purchase a new CPU, Motherboard as well as RAM)

I really need the additional RAM to enjoy titles such as RUST and PUBG with consistent performance. Which one of the options stated above is better for me?

Buy more RAM and a decent cooler, then OC your CPU. That should keep you going for 2+ years and it is much cheaper than upgrading.

Since u play games like rust or other early access stuff.
Stick to your 3770k, buy a decent cpu cooler, do some oc and add 8gb (if it's rly needed)

On the other hand if u have the money for a coffee lake upgrade, pff why not lol.
But again, for games like rust and stuff, the 3rd gen intel is fine enough.

If you have a Z based motherboard just get a decent cooler and OC the CPU
The CPU still does very well and wont be an issue with those games.

16GB can be very helpful

The issue is with the games not being optimized, not your system.
