i think the gfx board would be by far too fast. in case u want to buy it, you would need a new processor. look for one in the same pricerange than the gfx board(or a little lower). then you have most benefit from the 1060. imho.

Check your mobo bios to see if it'll take an i7 2600-2700 or xeon 4c/8t those are the only cpus worth swapping in at this point if you do get a GTX 1060 6GB.

Ps, some of the P67 boards took both i7 2600/ i7 3770. https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=184348.0

Pss,

i5 2500 would do ok with the GTX1060 too ^.

I'd go with the AMD RX580 over the GTX1060 6GB...

Check this websites game reviews they show performance charts for gpu's and cpu's. It should hopefully give you some idea of how much bottlenecking to expect for the games you play.

Could you elaborate as to why you keep making this suggestion? I mean nothing wrong with a 580, but they tend to cost more and the 1060 6GB tends to be faster in more games, so more details could help people make up their mind.

Same price point...better performance...and 8GB VRAM...That's the AMD RX580...

get an i5 8400 - 8600K + Mobo + Ram or 7400- 7600K, to pair with your 1060, depends on your budget and which games you want to play.

I thought this was about CPU bottleneck issues.

Is there a good cpu at a affordable price which matches the gpu with no bottleneck issues?

The GTX1060 and the RX580 are directly competing GPU's. Neither will cause a bottleneck for the i3-2120. The RX580 offers the same performance as the GTX1060...but has 8GB VRAM vs 6GB VRAM...It also uses a 256bit bus width vs the GTX1060's 192Bit.

Neither the bus width nor the difference between 6GB or 8GB making a performance difference...

Check your motherboard's specs on the manufacturer's website. That should tell you what cpu's your motherboard will support. Likeley, i5 2400, i5 2500, i7 2600. Any of which would be a decent step up. If you can try to go for a i5 2500 or i7 2600.

Do you recommend a good website where I can buy these at a decent price, which may sell used hardware so I could save a bit more?

That i3 2120 surely will bottleneck the GTX1060 6GB or the Rx 580 8GB.

Amazon used, ebay used or hardware forums.

To be fair, going by the review website I posted earlier. You should be mostly bottleneck free with your i3 2120 and a gtx1060 in 80% of games. Just the odd few like BF1 would be an issue.
