I get very low fps with Triton 500 laptop, rtx 2080
So I launched subnautica, and I get like 30 fps all the time, played around with power options with best performance, and also used DDU, checked task manager, and it says cpu 9% and gpu 0 at 100% in menu of subnautica. I need your help

Again you don't buy a laptop to play games while on battery.

Battery use is for working on the go. Plug it in to run games.

When on battery, right or left click the battery icon and switch to either power saver or balanced. When plugged in, especially for gaming, switch back to high performance

Are you sure the laptop and nvidia software are set to use the 2080, and not some.manner of onboard, integrated graphics?

Yes, if you have an Intel CPU most probably you have an iGPU, too. Make sure you're using the RTX 2080 instead of Intel's integrated GPU.

Disable Windows setting for auto handling of drivers, otherwise it will fetch and update those if available via Windows Updates without asking.

Wipe out all your Intel and Nvidia drivers using the DDU app via safe mode. Once all cleaned, reboot and download and install drivers for...

Intel Chipset INF

Intel HD Graphics (look in device manager prior to wipe to see which intel gpu u have, such as 610/630

Nvidia Mobile RTX GPU series

Might have to reboot after each install completes. Once all these are installed and you've rebooted after the Nvidia is installed, launch nvidia control panel and set the high performance gpu as the default, under manage 3d, global. Then apply.

okay in display settings in device manager there is only one graphics card, however when I enter bios there are no graphics card settings, but theres option that says ''dgpu only'' and ''mshybrid'', is it that thing?
Bad 💀 Motha Oct 17, 2019 @ 6:34am
What is the bios set to now?

Bios in laptops usually won't offer much settings and no reason for gpu settings. Today's systems can have two gpu active at all times without issues. But in laptops everything must run through that onboard Intel gpu, so don't disable it. However with the Nvidia being a 2nd gpu, this has to be set as the default for games to see and use it, otherwise it will only use the Intel gpu by default. On Desktops we don't have this issue because the intel and Nvidia can be used independently from one another, based on where the display is plugged into.

okay, so i found this app called predator sense, and when you put maximum overclock, you finally get results. Now im concerned about battery life, its scary

If you are playing on battery and not plugged in, chances are it's been using the on board igpu and not the 2080, gaming laptops are not really meant to be played on battery alone...

It's not a card, it's built into the cpu and with the exception of a few new kf and X chips, it's on every Intel chip I can think of going by the name of HDxxxx depending on the cpu.

Should be UHD630.

You can't game on battery. You must plug it in or the laptop will force itself into power saver mode and not allow full performance of cpu and gpu. This is due to the fact that the battery can only output a fraction of total power... approx 60 watts, where as the wall power adapter is around 130-180 watts

Gaming on battery is ok though if the game isn't very demanding.

And yes, 8th and 9th gen use the UHD 6xx series for onboard gpu.

GPU 0 is the Intel
GPU 1 is the Nvidia

Monitor which is doing what via the GPUZ app. Select the gpu from the drop down menu at bottom and then click the sensors tab. The intel will be used for general os stuff. Apps that use DirectX, OpenGL, Vulkan; should be using the Nvidia if you have the laptop configured properly. Set nvidia cp to use the Nvidia gpu as default. Set classic Control panel power profile to High Performance, at least for when plugged in.

okay hopefully I will just be able to do document working and school projects on it, should I actually disable the UHD? From what I found out its basically limiting my gaming so battery didnt waste, but laptop would still be functional for 1h 20 min or about so

Don't. Laptops require it to run properly, and it'll just waste battery doing non-gaming things. It doesn't limit anything, just select the dGPU for games and intensive programs.
