Intel 1150 cooler stuck to motherboard
All pins unlocked
Plastic top of cooler has come away from metal blades.
Twisted cooler like jam jar left/right hard. Hard to hold onto the blades when twisting.
Heated cooler area with hairdryer no luck.
Tried floss no luck.

Any ideas please ? and I don't care about damaging removed CPU.

You shouldn't have to worry about damaging the cpu, it won't pull from the socket like amd does.

Flip the motherboard over and see if a pin is stuck perhaps.

Pull upward after it starts moving once you apply the right and left twisting motion.

If still have troubles, share some good clear hires pictures of the problem area.

Cannot see any pins at back of motherboard. I believe it's the thermal paste

You remove the heatsink by turning those 4 pastic "towers" 90c in the direction of the arrow to release the pins. Sometimes it can take a little bit of force to remove the cooler.

If the cooler isn't coming off then either you didn't release all the pins or someone glued the cooler to the CPU.

All the pins released. If I force the cooler away what damage can I do ? How strong is thermal paste ?

It has probably become like a glue and creating a forceful suction when you try to pull away. Just twist and pull more. Just don't slip once it breaks free and cause damages to anything on the motherboard. But if you are pulling away from cpu area while twisting, that shouldn't happen.

Try taking an old plastic credit card or similar and slip it between the cpu and cooler, breaking the paste.

It would not prevent you from twisting or sliding the cooler off. It crumbles into dust after a few years.

Ok thanks for your help much appreciated. If the twisting and pulling method not work I shall use a tool underneath cooler and push up.

Don't use tools, that's never going to be needed. That would just damage the motherboard and render it useless. If you are sure it's just 4 pins, then it will pull away, just try harder.

I have tried to take photo of user side of fans. Does the back of the motherboards look like a mounted plate for the heatsink and looking at the rivets how can this be removed please ?
imgur link does not exist on my end, tried with google chrome, firefox, opera.

The towers are in the closed position. Turn them in the direction the arrow is pointing.
