Advise on overclocking alienware 17 r3 980m

as stated in the title,
i need help overclocking my gpu(980m 8gb), bear with me as i am not pro in these overcloking stuffs.
what i have done so far :
i tried using msi afterburner , +135/+150 core clock and mem clock, but it made no difference at all, fps remains the same, i dont use any custom bios, infact i never really entered the bios menu.
i'd really appreciate if anyone could help me :(

It's a laptop. NEVER, overclock, A LAPTOP. I don't care if it's a Alienware 10.000$ laptop. you just dont overclock them because of heating problems. There is a reason why there is a GTX 980m and not a full GTX 980 in them. They are much stronger and therefore are hotter.

65-75C is literally pushing the limit as is, for some processors anyways. Don't over clock or you can kiss your computer, and your warranty, goodbye if it overheats too much. Keep it below 80-85 if you choose to do so.

Not to mention, I believe these devices have heat dissipation optimized for the stock configuration. Overclocking could mess that up, as explained in the link.
The 5% gain in frames isn't worth the extra heat or risk.

Try turning your power settings to high performance. Or keep your computer cooler, maybe the processor is limiting its clock rate to cool off. Try cleaning fans, or trying to keep your laptop elevated, or use a cooling mat.

my processor runs hot, yes but im not overclocking my processor as im just trying to overclock my gpu, i regularly clean my fans and i use a cooler pad cm sf-17.
i got this because i wanted a computer where i can play games since i travel alot, i am student, i guess ill just have to build a top class rig when im done with my studies.
sad lief :/ i want 60fps on ark with max settings. guess im gonna have to wait.

Wait, ARK? Almost no one can run that ♥♥♥♥ on 60FPS and MAX settings. That is like, EXTREME. but then again 75 degrees is pretty hot, and 85 is even worse (celsius right?) xD. My GTX 960 runs as it hottest at about 40-50, I know it's a desktop GPU but still...

Over a year old, weather matter (temperature). Give up, find a new thread to whine about.
