GTX 1070 SC

I bought a EVGA GTX 1070SC and I can't get it to work. I either get beep codes, or if it does work, it freezes at the start menu with a bunch of blue lines... Some one said my motherboard may not be compatible. I have a
Acer ipisb-vr rev 1.01 motherboard
Anyone know if it's compatible?

Well, your motherboard has 1x PCI-E Express 16x 2.0, so it should work.

Btw, GPU's are backward compatible, which means that your card, which prob is PCI-E Express 16x 3.0 works fine in a 2.0 port

How many beep codes? This definitely sounds like an overheating issue. EVGA 1070 and 1080 cards left out sufficient cooling for the cards and the voltage regulation module has no direct cooling to keep the temperature at proper levels. EVGA did attempt to patch the issue with a fan speed curve BIOS update but the problem seems more complex. You could request a card with the latest VBIOS but I would refund it the card is faulty out of the box.

If you are experiencing component failure out of the box, you should RMA the card and consider another manufacturer for the GTX 1070 series.

4 beeps and then 50 beeps.
Once I took the card out it was pretty hot. But sometimes it doesn't even have a display and sometimes it does for a while, but the start up screen is always off center. Like up left corner then that starting Windows thing is in bottom right, and then I get blue streaks across the screen. I'm going to best buy to exchange card... But idk if that will help. Idk if it's the card or if my other stuff can't handle it.

That should be enough, I thought your card might be underpowered and give somekind of error due that.
But, I think you might go with Synth3D's answer, it's no good.

So should I exchange it and try again?

If possible take your pc in to them and test the new card before you take it home, idk acer mobos it might be a pinout issue in which case a new card will do the same thing. You might have to downgrade gpu or switch to an ati card.

Another friend of mine told me this MB has done it with other GPUs. So i guess im gonna have to rebuild my pc if i want to use a 1070
