50Hz/60Hz
Is there a noticeable difference between 50Hz and 60Hz? For the time being I have to use my 50Hz HDTV as a monitor so I was wondering if there was a noticable difference between 50-60Hz because I wouldn't see the point in buying a 60Hz monitor if 50Hz is as good..

There's only a few 120Hz monitors in stores near me and they're far too expensive for what they offer.

Thanks

Edit: Went through my Graphics Properties on my PC, the refresh rate is 60Hz not 50.

Depends on the game you play.

TVs usually got horrible refresh rates, so using those for faster paced games, while sitting close up, is quite a huge difference. Sitting far back, playing GTA or something, not so much.

If that's all you have, I don't see the problem, what choice do you have.

What is your country/currency?
What could be your budget range if you were to get a Monitor?
Can link some decently priced Monitors based around that.

UK - GBP
Probably £110-£120

The problem I have Is, being under 18 I don't have a bank card and so I can't order from online, which is where most of the deals are for 120Hz/240Hz monitors.

Is a 100Hz monitor good for games such as GTA V, Rainbow Six Seige, CS:GO?

Thanks :)

hardly any differece between 50-60hz, but once you experience 100hz+ you can never go back. I've been gaming on a 144hz monitor for 2 year now, and i tried playing on my friends computer, which he also has an awesome rig, but only a 60hz monitor and i kept complaining about how bad it was. He has since went out and bought a 144hz monitor and was amazed at how great it was. He had no idea what he was missing out on

anygame you get over 80 fps is, a 120-144hz monitor would be amazing.

Ok so you get your parents to order it, what's the problem. How else do you buy things, live, etc.

Even 60Hz LED is fine ! Unless a distracted developer forgets to enable V-Sync . What a shame ! :steamsad: :steamhappy:

Yea if your computer is not powerful enough to give you over 60+ fps in games you are playing then a 60Hz monitor will be fine even your TV you have now will be fine. No sense in wasting the extra money on a high Hz monitor if you are not going to see the benifit of it right now.

Plus as someone said if Vsync in those games is enabled having the more expensive monitor is not worth it as well. Some games you can turn Vsync off some you can not.

I have 2-3 games where the developers forgot to take into account V-Sync when the game menu is shown but in gaming it is fine

I have an AMD FX-4300 3.8GHz, GTX 960 2GB and 8GB DDR3 RAM computer, I know the CPU needs upgrading, but I mainly play games such as CSGO, GTA V and Rainbow Six Seige and I get more than 60fps in all 3 of those, but don't have £200-£300 to put into a monitor for the luxury of 144Hz.

I have found a "decent" monitor according to reviews, the Samsung S24F350 Curved 24", it is 60Hz but has FreeSync, is a monitor like this worth buying or should I stick to the TV I'm using and enable V-Sync?

Curved? What for. It's not large enough of a screen to even justify being "curved"
Samsung S24F350 is not curved, not sure where u see that at.
Now a model such as SAMSUNG C24, is. Quite frankly, you don't want that.

FreeSync doesn't do anything on NVIDIA GPUs.
And quite frankly you don't need that anyways, just use VSync = Adaptive in NVIDIA Control Panel. Then in-game, VSync=Off

If you want decent 60Hz panel how about this:
