Whats wrong with my PC?
Hello i seem to have run into trouble with my newly built PC, When i play a game such as Overwatch or Paragon my pc with freeze.....the sound first goes static then nothing at all and i have to manually turn my PC off by holding power button to restard. At first i thought it was my CPU so i cleaned it with alchohol put new thermal paste on it and went on my way....then it happend for the 2nd time today and i had to dig in deeper.

After downloading SpeedFan and getting the 3D Benchmarker i did a test....everything on my PC is running cool accept my GPU which jumps up to 76c when running the Benchmark....does that have something to do with the sudden freeze? or is there something else i need to check like a power surge...this is my first built PC so i may not know exactly what i need to look for

Amd or Nvidia gpu? What model? You could try setting a custom fan profile in Msi Afterburner, I use only 2 points, one at 40 degrees 40% and the other at 60 degrees 80%, the fan ramps up when needed but not as loud as max.

Since pc is new there could also be an issue with ram timings, are you using xmp timings? If yes then you should be ok.

76 is hot but not bad, my 780ti's used to peak around 85 degrees with custom fan profile.

The freeze is likely gpu related, so test a custom fan profile and if it still happens it might be an issue with the card itself. If you use gpu-z you can see all kinds of info on your card including ram type. If it has micron ram then you could be in trouble.

My 1070 with micron ram died with less than 3 months use on it. It was my secondary card so I didn't notice until it was too late, now I'm looking at manufacturer replacement or a new card.

76 degrees isn't that bad, not remotely hot enough to cause a mechanical failure. My overclocked GTX970 ran at 70 degrees all day without any issues. You only start to see warning lights around 90 degrees, and you can run some models up to 100 without damaging them permanently.

General rules for CPUs:

<35 *C: Sub-Idle. Usually only seen when starting up.
35-45 *C: Your typical idling temperature for most CPUs and some smaller Graphics cards.
45-55 *C: A normal healthy running temperature for smaller CPUs. The typical idling temp for most Graphics Cards.
55-65 *C: The perfect running temperature range for nearly all CPUs and most graphics cards.
65-75 *C: Hot Zone. Perfect for ultra high-performance parts like the i7 6700K and GTX1080, but a worry for low-power parts. Not dangerous in any way, just warm.
75-85 *C: The highest you can safely go with a CPU, also occasionally seen in extremely high-power graphics cards running modified voltages. At 85 C most processor will begin to slow itself down to try and cool itself. Not ideal.
85 and above: The danger zone. Parts may be damaged or behave strangely, avoid at all costs.

complete pc specs + temperatures of pc components = hardware problem troubleshooting

Depends what gpu but most are capped at over 95c-100+c before it's a problem.

My 280x hits 78c in GTA 5.

Ps, freeze followed by buzzing/static sounds like a common gpu driver crash, uninstall them DDU them and reinstall.

Same exact thing happened to me and it was a graphics driver issue. DDU is great app to use for wiping the current driver and do a clean install of graphics driver from website. Not saying this will work for sure in your case but worked like a charm for me.

The grafics card is an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960, The cooling system for the CPU is a Corsair H60 water cooling. I have 2 HyperX Fury 8 GB DDR4 and i think the timing is 2133 MHz? i will try and do a test with costume fan see what happens, i also noticed (i use windows 10) that it has power saving set to moderate so i turned that off as well...from what i understand that can also be the issue with the PC...
