Adding more VRAM to intel HD?
Hi! Thanks for taking the time to read this (and hopefully respond :3 ). I would like to know how to add more VRAM to my intel HD to boost performance. My PC runs windows 8 64 bit and has 8GB RAM (1 stick). It says the current dedicated memory of the intel HD is 32MB. I don't understand why it uses 32MB when it says that it has 1700MB available -_-. So I tried accessing the BIOS but couldn't find an option to change the VRAM. I've tried the regedit way too. Where I go trough the intel folder and create a new folder called GMM, add a 32 bit D-word value and call it "DedicatedSegmentSize" and finally change the value to 512 or 1024 hexidecimal. I did all of that and restarted my PC but it still says 32MB. I would like to install a new GPU but my PC's terrible 90 watts power brick woudln't be able to handle a GPU and the mobo lacks a PCIE slot. :C Please help! Thanks.

No, you can't expand that.
You might be able to change the available buffer size in the BIOS; that's about it.
GPUs have a set amount, that's all there is to it.

This is why for games, generally getting a system with dedicated AMD or NVIDIA GPU is a must.

Aww man. People have been saying you can change the amount of VRAM it uses.

Here's an example of what I was trying to do:

What is the full Laptop Model and also Intel CPU Model?
You dont need to tweak that values . Since the video RAM is dynamically allocated it s natural 32MB to be the start . I know it causes issues to some games that say "VRAM not enough"" but all well done games dont do that .

Adding a second matchhing stick may give a boost of the performance - 20%

This is a desktop PC but it is: HP 110-052ea. CPU: i3-3240T 2.90ghz dual core, I think it's an ivy bridge socket.

Yes but can I change the dedicated memory that intel HD can use? It says 1700MB is available for it to use.

Idk intel HD takes it's dedicated memory from RAM. So people say you can change the amount of memory intel HD takes from the RAM.

Even if you'd allocate more RAM, the Intel videochip won't run any faster.

Plus this is an 3rd Gen i3 we're talking about; nothing you can really do to help its CPU or GPU performance.

Time to think about a newer system if Gaming is really what you wish to do on PC.

I am planning on custom building a gaming PC butI only want to upgrade this PC so that me and my brother can play together. I don't think I have enough to build 2 gaming PCs.

Grab a GTX 750 Ti or 950 cheap (like on Ebay); that's about as far as I'd go with that PC.
Then build a much better one for yourself; which you can also ask in this forum and we'll be glad to help.

in the bios you can increase the amount of dedicated v ram , should be under advanced settings depends on the mobo manufacturer
f2 and the delete key are common ways to enter the bios , but again depends on the manufacturer

I'd like to do that but my mobo lacks a PCIE slot. :C It's a HP computer. Probably designed like that to prevent customization.

I didn't find that in the BIOS. The PC manufacturer is HP. Can't remember the exact name of the BIOS version or BIOS manufacturer. I tried to change it via registry editor but I followed all the steps to no avail. :C
