System keeps Freezing (Alienware X51 R3)
I have been having this problem for a week or so now, and my Alienware X51 R3 is a year old. It just freezes randomly, there is no correlation as far as I can see. I've been doing some research on the subject and it seems some shady program is strewn about, Drive Booster 3, I'd rather not risk a virus. I've been checking my computer's log and it seems as though there's some sort of power failure that is indeed critical. Of course though, I have to hard shutdown my PC when it freezes, but there was it was time stamped at 12:47 AM, and it was a school night. I don't know what I expected out of Dell, obviously too much it seems. Anyway, there was a correlation early on with Skype being the culprit of 3 of my freezes, so I dealt with it, and it seemed okay until the next day. That day I had another freeze. Now the only correlation I see in the log is the time of the freeze, from 5 to 7 PM. I will get back to you after I reinstall Windows. I have also reinstalled my drivers. So I have no where else to turn. I'll see. Any help appreciated. :2016weiner::2016weiner:

It it not still under warranty? You can double check this at
Dell.com/Support > scroll down and enter the Service Tag Code.
Which is located on the Dell sticker on your PC Case.

If not under warranty:

Go on a working WinOS system and create a new OS media from Microsoft.
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
Have a USB Flash Drive connected and ready to be wiped, prior to running the tool.

Once created, boot from that flash drive on your X51 system and do a clean OS install.

However, if your system does not have a Microsoft Windows 10 sticker w/ Product Key on it; then you will want to first go into Windows, install Piriform Speccy, load that up, click Operating System on left hand side, and write down your Windows Product Key.

Haha, found it out. I did the Memory diagnostic stress test from Dell. My computer did not last lond until crashing. Now I just need to figure out how to lower my memory usage, any tips?
Faulty RAM? = then replace the RAM.
Usually those systems have 2x installed RAM modules.
So test them individually, most likely, only one is faulty.

Best bet is remove them and re-seat them; then try the RAM testing again.

after exactly 2 years i found the solution to this problem its the powerboard of the alienware x51 r2 that doesnt supply the graphicscard with enough power then needed for the graphicscard. and because the graphicscard needs to go up to 170 watts at some demanding games the system itself shuts down to prevent further damage on the system. so the only thing that can prevent those x51s to crash and randomly shutdown is to either underclock your graphicscard or buy yourselve a new graphicscart that is low on watt usage. i figured this out after checking my temperatures because i thought it would be a overheating issue but it wasnt temps where stable. after that i just turned all my power limit down to 71% in msi afterburner and decidet to put memory and core clock both to the lowest possible -502. and then all of the sudden all my games worked and i faced no crashes or random shutdowns. hope this helps another x51 owner and if you have the x51 r1 then the powerboard is even more aggresive and you have to have a very low power consuming graphicscard to fix the issue. im going to reply to more questions if needed feel free to ask ;)
