Have IPS panels overcome Backlight Bleed, or did I win the lottery?
I conducted a Backlight Bleed test on my new IPS monitor last night. To my delight I didn't find any bleed at all - the display did have slight IPS glow at all for corners, but even that was actually less than what I was told to expect.

Have IPS displayed evolved past this issue, or did I just get a freakily good one?

Or maybe you don't perceive it as bad as some (few) do.

Every display technology has some drawbacks, so just pick your evil.

The first generation IPS panels suffered a bit more from that. Current generation panels suffer less from it. It's still there but most won't even notice it unless they actually look for it.
I got pretty lucky and got one that has almost none.

Well I wasn't going easy on it. I placed it in a closet, closed the door and then ran a black screen test. Nada - a little bit of IPS glow but no actual bleed.
