Mouse randomly stops working during games

In many of the steam games I play (Brothers in Arms, Metro 2033, Age of Empires II, etc...) my mouse input simply stops working. The games don't recognize mouse movement, clicks, etc... Turning the mouse off and on, replacing batteries, or changing the USB port (it's wireless) don't work. As soon as I exit the game, the mouse works fine, it is only glitchy in the games. Anybody got any idea what the problem could be?

I once had a wireless mouse, emphasis on once. You could try moving the receiver closer, if you can, that sometimes helped mine.

I don't know if this is the problem though, because if the receiver is too far away, it would probably be affected outside of games as well, wouldn't it? There's some kind of issue with the games, because it only happens in some. Payday 2 and Skyrim, for example, have never had this issue.
