"Setup - English; 32 & 64bit"
that covers all Windows OS from WinXP til current
CPU-Z is awesome, turns out it's all not there, the DRAM frequency, size, and the times are wrong. I read about this and took a closer look. The XMP profile still has things on auto, I'm gonna have to do it manually. I'll take a closer look at tutorials and make sure I input my settings on the motherboard.
My Ram is Trident Z 64gb / 3200mhz / Timing : CL 16-18-18-38 / 1.35v
The XMP Profile set on the profile activates all of these settings since the ram itself is as a XMP profile within it.
CPU-Z currently reads it as 64gb / DRAM Frequency: 1066.5 mhz / Timing: CL 15-15-15-36
Windows task manager reads it as: Slots Used 3 of 8 / 44.0gb / Speed 2133mhz
With these results, you can realize that their might not be a definite answer, however things are running smoothly. No creashes and no hiccups (knock on wood).
If you have any thoughts on my findings please share it, howver I thank all of you for pitching in, and telling me about CPU-Z.
I see that's there's a CPU-Z version for gigabyte g1 gaming on the site-I might take alook at that later on today.
Which revision Motherboard do you have? 1.0 or 1.1?
1.0

1.1

Once you verify which board revision you have, download and update to latest BIOS version.
Install your 4x RAM into DIMMs 1, 3, 5, 7 for Quad Channel config.
Manual: http://download.gigabyte.us/FileList/Manual/mb_manual_ga-x99-ultra-aming_e.pdf
Re-Seat all your RAM, then check the BIOS to verify all 64GB is being seen.
Ignore what the OS says in general; but CPU-Z should be correct.
In CPU-Z, look in Memory tab to see what is "active"
You think I have to do a clean install? I mean I dont mind, but damn its gonna be long lol
Thanks for responding so quickly. The ram is installed in all the right places, and the bios xmp profiles set it correctly I saw it. However some parts were grayed out. I'll doeverything over in a little while.
Task Manager should properly see all the RAM, if not, then you have a problem.
IDK what you mean by "files"
Revision of the board is very important with regards to BIOS.
The manual clearly states also:
RAM into DIMMs 1, 3, 5, 7 for Quad Channel config when using 4x
You're right-I did a 2nd look at CPU-Z, I reinstalled it, the g1 gaming cpu-z, and everything there. I chose the profile, and pressed f10. With a stroke of luck everything worked.
(By files I meant b/w 1.1 & 1.0, the version numbers on the driver were exactly the same for both.)
Anyways, I've taken to much of your time, right now everything on CPU Z says its there and I'm happy with that. Thank you for all the help, and sorry for the back and forth. I'm really grateful for the help.
If anything else goes wrong, I'll just look back at what you said.
Best,
Budda
But yea seems it is working ok; if BIOS says 64GB RAM Total and XMP settings are properly being reflected in CPU-Z > Memory tab; then you should be fine.
I see, well my board isn't dead thank God, and I see what you mean. I wish I can give you a hug for all the help *virtual hug*. Again thank you very much for the help.
since i suggested it lol
would have replied sooner but i was sleeping
Not locking in RAM settings is a common among newer builders.
I've even seen plenty of so-called skilled builders make this mistake.
Basically when a Motherboard ships, or is reverted back to CMOS/BIOS defaults; a reason things like CPU/RAM are on Auto, is to ensure the boot process occurs properly. After you see that is fine, you would then lock in your RAM with XMP (or at least set it up manually) Your CPU you generally do not have to, unless you are going to OC it. But with RAM on Auto, it's simply wrong and/or running at the lowest settings (like DDR3-1600 running at 1333; or DDR4-3200 running at 2133); but then if these are "off" so to speak, then generally so might the timings or voltage.
for future reference, im a dude :)
and i only meant suggesting CPU-Z to check the RAM/DIMM slot usage, you did the actual work :)
Sorry, LOL so many people
Thank you both! And have youself a Merry Christmas/Holiday!
just noticed ur name is Budda after i called you bud lmao
