i5-8600k vs i5-3570k in games
How much (in percentage or in frames) higher would be the framerate in CPU-intensive games, with a GTX 1060 setup? I saw some new fresh gaming benchmarks of 8600k today in the news, with several games, but the benchmarkers were comparing it only to not-too-old CPU models.

Is it adequate to change the whole platform (motherboard, CPU and RAM) for this increase?

Probably about the same.

And we don't know. Most info available on the 8000 series CPU are leaks and rumors. I haven't seen any benchmarks yet.

The 8600k will dominate in multi core performance but probably be similar in single core.

Here are the comparative benchmarks between newer CPUs including the 8600k:
(although they are made with GTX 1080, not 1060)

It also depends on your clocks on your 3570k, purely on generation improvements I'd expect a decent increase, I don't really use my 3570k for gaming these days, but I know my 4790k is considerably slower than a 7700k even when clocked at 4.8 (if the 7700k is clicked the same), also, looking at those numbers the 8600k is going to oc a hell of alot higher than the 3570k.
To be honest though, only you can answer if it's going to be worth the $450-500-ish it will cost you to upgrade to the new platform, I'd expect 20 ish FPS increases (with a 3570k around 4.4 and if you can hit 5GHz on the 8600k), more if it can use all 6 cores.

Well a newer i5-8400 is a decent jump from a i5-7600; so I would surely hope 8600K should be miles ahead of anything back on the old 2nd/3rd Gen. Pretty much any older i5, older then Skylake is fairly rubbish.

If you are playing at 1080p then i7-7700k/gtx1060 benchmarks will give you some idea of what might be possible. A quad core i7 is roughly 5.2 non-ht cores in performance. The 8600k is 6 non-ht cores.

But you will need to wait for benchmarks for accurate data due to the different ways games are threaded and how they use the gpu. And unless you have a monitor that can display the extra fps then there won't be a noticeable difference.

An i5-3570k is a good cpu, especially if run in high performance mode.

Sorry, but so many tests prove you wrong, even the biased ones prove you wrong.
The jump in performance is quite low, an average 20-30% in performance between a few generations of processors. My i5 3570k is still going strong, I play with ease many of the current games at 60-144 fps.
I keep wanting to upgrade, but neither of the current processors compel me to. The only real jump would be to a top unlocked i7, but I'd never use that processor fully, so I'm still hanging, can't wait to make the jump to a fully DDR4 rig. But not while my current rig still rocks!
Just a sidenote: I have a 1200W corsair PSU, Corsair obsidian 800D, custom air cooling, so I can house a powerful rig in there.

Nothing of what I said is biased.
And many use their PC for a alot more than just a couple games here and there.
And i5-8400 for example would have no trouble handling a GTX 1080 Ti; you won't get a 2500K or 3570K to do that, it would be a bottleneck. So the user and their needs has to better determine CPU based on such considerations, and perhaps "near future wants/needs"

Yes there are not extreme differences in performance between 6th vs 7th vs 8th Gen CPUs.
But for the most part, going with anything older than 7th Gen right now, would be extremely foolish as well. So having older tech like 3rd or 4th Gen i5 or i7 series; that is fine, if you already have in-hand. If not, avoid like the plague.

This is some quality necroing hehe, it's good that you are still happy with your 3570k performance, for others, it's lacking, I run my htpc on a 3570k and am finding it lacking at times.

On another note how the hell come you ended up with a 1200w PSU on an i5 build? That seems insanely overspecced lol.

Yeah...so much argument without proving evidence. It is not big deal since it is older post. I personally have i7 3770k and GTX 680, because it is all I need for now. Until I can clear my credit debt.

What evidence could I possibly need given I only stated a personal opinion, the 3570k is showing its age to me compared to my 4790k and 7900x, as I said, if you're happy with the performance that's all that really matters, for me it's showing its age.

I meant other people who argument without proceed evidence, not you.

Fair enough, my bad.
