All Steam games crashing with MSI afterburner
Hi
I have been having problems with games crashing at start.
I turned off MSI afterburnet with the Rivatuner statistics server and it seemd to help.

The problem is I want to run it when gaming.

It is a problem that just started yesterday. Until then afterburner ran fine.

Has anyone got a similar problem.
I turned off the steam overlay to see if it would help with no luck.

Any suggestions.

I have and i7-3770k @ 4.4 Ghz, 32 Gb DDR3 1600 Mhz
MSI GTX 1070 for graphics
MSI GTX 970 for cuda based stuff.
Windoes 7 64 bit professional.

Can anyone help?

Change the overlay settings in RivaTuner until games don't crash.
Not all games can work under the default settings

Tried that. No luck. Presenly only option is o tun without it. I need it on for various reasons. I am not overclocking, just monitoring.

I had the same issue. It appeared just few days ago. Disabling the Geforce Experience In-Game Overlay resolved that issue.

I've began noticing these issues as well. A few days ago things got weird with the crashes as only a few games i play (pubg, kf2, etc) wouldn't start. Turning off afterburner, starting the game, then restarting afterburner with the game on works fine. This leaves me to wonder if steam/afterburner are causing issues since i have nvidia experience fps overlay on along with other overlays and no issues until recently have come up.

Oddly I just ran into the same issue, everything was fine then restarted my computer and now non of my games run with msi afterburner open. I close msi afterburner, any game I click launches, I launch msi afterburner and suddenly nothing launches. They just attempt then close or say they crashed and pop up an error report for the program.
So far tried planetside 2, just cause 3, fallout 4 and fallout shelter and they all failed to launch when msi afterburner open.

Sucks since I use it for checking stuff like temps and framerate, and to apply a custom fan profile because fan stop is annoying(it shuts fans off, then they turn on 100% till "cool" again. Repeats every few seconds).

OS: Windows 7 pro 64 bit
CPU: i5 6600k, stock clock
GPU: Radeon rx 470
RAM: 8GB 2400 DDR4

It's an issue with the game hooks for the overlay, It's also been crashing/not letting some of my games start

Most likely your Windows OS recently updated; so please check for updates via the Windows Updates section and ensure all those have completed.

Then recheck all OS settings, as they will most likely be default again after latest Win10 updates; things such as Xbox DVR, GameBar, Gaming Mode; disable all of those.

Reinstall MSI Afterburner + RivaTuner with the very latest Beta versions as well as ALL of your hardware drivers with the very latest ones from the chipset makers websites.

As far as Rivatuner goes, just make sure you have the latest beta version installed as a previous Windows update broke rivatuner and it had to be updated.
