What GPU are you using? And what cable are you using?
You'll need a DVI-D dual link cable to run the monitor at 1080p/144hz.
Anyway is it dual link? AFAIK 144Hz monitor only support dual link DVI cable.
https://seriousseverity.wordpress.com/2013/10/10/monitor-connections-explained
Single link cable can plug into dual link port but as monitor doesn't support it it wouldn't work.
Yeah, 1080p/144hz needs dual link.
From what I gather, it seems like the OP may be using a single link cable and/or only have a single link port on the gpu.
The cable I have is a DVI-D Dual link
When you say that it doesn't detect it, what exactly happens?
Are you absolutely sure that it is a DVI-D dual link cable?
the screen simply says: no cable connected.
im 100000000% sure that its a DVI-D dual link... not mistaken.
it also was able to fit on the other monitor also DVI-D dual link..
this is the cable I have. im sure it is the one i need....
the other monitor is not 144hz but does have the DVI-D input
Do you know how to check the cable, to confirm what it is? You really should confirm it.
A normal monitor would support both dual and single link.
Are you sure your cable is dual link? Look up the link I posted, check the cable.
Really though single link is being phased out now as it doesn't have enough bandwidth nowadays. Once 4K becomes mainstream even DVI will be phased out.
Did you check the cable to see if it has all the pins in the middle i.e dual link?
If so it could be the monitor is faulty.
Please, understand, I do understand the basics of this.
Single link can fit into dual link.
The way you describe the issue, it definitely sounds like a single link cable.
The DVI-D dual link cable will have a single line connector, plus 24 pins. Single link will be missing 6 pins, the ones in the middle.
Check this.
as written in the post above, YES i have tried to use the cable with the same GPU on a different monitor which also had the DVI-D dual link and it worked! just not on this XL2411 monitor... which i want it to work on
