PC waking itself up from sleep
I had this issue a while back and then it stopped but as of yesterday it's been doing it again. When I put my computer to sleep it will wake up again after about 5-10 seconds. I think it might be just the graphics card turning on and not the whole computer though because when I turn on my monitor when this happens nothing shows up until I press my keyboard.
Please help me if you can it's driving me crazy :steamsad:

Disable all Wake-On-LAN
Disable the Mouse ability to wake up the system.

To wake yourself, press the Case power button, if something like Spacebar doesn't wake it.

Don't power the Monitor on/off, this goes through device detection when you do, just like a USB device. Set the Monitor Sleep Mode in the OS if you want that to turn off. Monitor Sleep = about a quarter of a watt or so, really no reason to turn it off except after a PC power down.

I already disabled mouse wake up but how do I disable wake on lan and what is it? Also I don't think it's related to the monitor because I've had it for 1.5 years or so and this is only the second or third time I've had this problem start happening.

Network Adapter > Properties > Configure

Disable everything to do with Sleep/Wake in the BIOS too.

Are you using an old PSU with a haswell or later CPU? Older PSU's don't allow newer CPU's to enter the correct sleep mode and will cause them to wake/reboot.

I don't know what PSU but I bought it new about 1.5 years ago so I doubt that's it. My CPU is i5 6500.

It does the same thing for amd don't worry about the psu, do what Bad Motha said it'll fix it.

It may be a electric issue, when I moved I started having this problem.

i would think it's some USB input, wake on lan as mentioned above is also a good hint.

☞ Here'ya go buddy try this:

  2. press and hold the Win. button ⌘,
  3. press the Ⓡ button and release all,
  4. on the "Run"-Window, copy & paste or type in:

  6. a new instance of the Win. command interpreter should be shown,
  7. on the "Command"-Window, copy & paste or type in:
POWERCFG -LASTWAKE POWERCFG -WAKETIMERS POWERCFG -DEVICEQUERY wake_armed POWERCFG -WAKETIMERS

  8. where the command POWERCFG ...

    • -LASTWAKE
Reports information about what woke the system from the last sleep transition.

    • -WAKETIMERS
      Enumerates the active wake timers.

    • -DEVICEQUERY wake_armed
Lists the devices that are currently configured to wake the system from any sleep state.

  9. Optional/Additional commands you could/should use are:

    • POWERCFG -DEVICEQUERY wake_from_any
List all devices that support waking the system from any sleep state.

    • POWERCFG -DEVICEDISABLEWAKE "%DeviceName%"
Disable the device from waking the system from a sleep state.

    • POWERCFG -DEVICEENABLEWAKE "%DeviceName%"
Enable the device to wake the system from a sleep state.

    • ※ where "%DeviceName%"
Specifies a device (surrounded by quotes) retrieved using
      -DEVICEQUERY wake_armed or wake_from_any

  10. Use the commands above to retrieve the reason(s) why sleep states are interrupted / unavailable.

have you checked if it happens without any USB device plugged in (keyboard, mouse, whatever else you have over USB)

The command in one of the above comments that shows you what woke up the computer should also help. have you tried it? if it seems too complicated just do the unplug everything except your screen and see if it happens as well.

you can set a short time span to go to sleep so your experiment won't take too long.

Ok ill try that and get back to you in a day or two because now it's doing it hours after I put my pc to sleep such as when I'm sleeping or a school.

weird.. have you turned off wakeup on network request?

so basically when you come home your computer is awake?
it does not go back to sleep again after waking up?
Because that sounds a bit like malware..
