Neither.

Because of 3 reasons:
1. Don't bother with a dedicated Physx card. Physx is dead.
2. The GT 710 is terrible.
3. You are probably using the GT 710 as your normal GPU.

So just leave it to auto right?

Yes leave it to auto.

Don't touch the Nvidia control panel unless you really have to. The default settings are fine.

There are some old games still using physx and can be ran on an nvidia GPU. If you happen to have an old nvidia card then you could use it as a dedicated card. Buying one specifically for physx is not worth it.
Physx is being replaced it seems with something called flex. Some games use it. It is much more demanding than physx.
I have a gtx 1070 for graphics. Also my old gtx 970 is used for dedicated physx and flex. For physx is it overkill but it is perfect for flex. For killing floor 2 it works very well and improved performance for that game.

if so, upgrade the gpu.

Does it matter? You're not playing demanding games, like ones with PhysX on that poor GPU anyways.

GT 1030 will run circle around GT 710, or the RX 550 which is $20 more expensive for similar performance.

Those are the current gen cheapest GPU, you could always get better alternatives.

Yea if you're looking for Gaming GPU; at least go GTX 750 Ti / 950 / 1030 at the very least
