Most don't really need a full tower, as modern mid towers offer enough space for most people, with the advantage of ALOT more options.
If you check the art section of my profile you'll see just how much stuff is needed to fill a full tower and not have it look empty.
I likely don't "need" a full tower but it seems like the extra room would be nice as well as maybe provide for better airflow/cooling and give plenty of room for future upgrading. It doesn't really matter to me if it looks empty.
How do you like the Phanteks Enthoo Primo?
What are types of options are you referring to when you say the mids have more?
Personally, I just use a rosewill stealth. The amount of hard drive slots and the large gpu space is useful for me. So it's kinda pointless to ask people what to get. You have to get one that's closest to your needs.
I picked it up because I had planned on running 2 GTX 980Ti in SLI, plus I needed better space and cooling over my previous CoolerMaster Cosmos 1000. After running two 980Ti in SLI for about 4 months, I ended up taking one and building a HTPC in a CoolerMaster XB Evo case. Now my kids can game on the TV and I can game on my monitors.
What may turn some people away from this case is the fact that it has 4 - 5.25" bays. Otherwise, it has a lot of room and plenty spots for fans (2 front, 1 bottom, 1 rear, 2 top and 1 side if you get a windowless side panel)
I actually have a need for 5.25" bays since I rip my DVDs/Blu-rays and still have a lot of older physical copies of games I play from time to time. I make use of all 4 on this case. I removed the HDD cages and utilized 5.25" HDD mounts for two of the bays.
1st (top) has DVD/CD burner
2nd has Blu-Ray ROM
3rd has 1TB HDD
4th has 500GB HDD
Only downside is no tempered glass option, but it does come in various colours.
For me it finally came down to the enthoo primo or Corsair 900d, but I got the primo on sale at half what the 900d was going to cost, the next step up are the crazy cases by the likes of case labs or the enthoo elite at £600-900.
When I said mid towers have more options I mean there are dozens of good mid tower options available offering a far wider range if styles and cooling options.
For me though I wanted / needed a specific set of parts for my case, I wanted room for 2 480mm radiators, a separate chamber for the PSU to hide in,room for a bunch of storage and dust filters, which is what made my choices kind of limited. One issue with my setup is needing to run the horizontal reservoir, which is a bit of a pain, but looks unique and fills the case nicely.
