165hz moniter only working at 144hz

Hello, I got a new moniter a few days ago its an AOC AG241QG AGON it says it is a 165hz moniter but in windows 10 settings only goes up to 144hz, and in some games such as doom it gets caped at 60fps, my gpu is a 1070 so it should have no probs with high settings, and in stellaris it jumbs fromm 144 to 27 randomly.

Not sure I installed my drivers correctly though

1. Make sure you're using the right cables, which you want to be using Display port, to get the 165hz.

2. Download the latest, or older drivers that you know works well for you, then download Display Driver Uninstaller, which is call DDU, go into safemode on your PC, run DDU, and make sure Nivida is selected, then click on the recommended button, then you're finish, now install your video driver.

You have to enable overclock mode in the OSD of the monitor itself. These 165Hz screen run on 144Hz by default. 165 is optional.

Hey man. Go to your NVIDIA or AMD control panel. After that there should be something about your monitor. There should be option for refresh rate, right now it should be 144hz. Click on it and it should give multiple options. Click on 165hz and enjoy.

Ps. You need to have display port cable all the time.

Cheers! Selecting the full screen g-sync option worked its magic, cheers! I over clocked the moniter to 165hz but I only get upto 144hz on windows, good enough as in DOOM it only gets upto maximum of 120ish
