PC for CS GO. Pentium G4400 Vs i5 2400 ?
So i bought a 2nd hand PC around 3 years ago, got it fixed a couple of times. last year, i installed a new AMD Radeon HD 6570 in it.
The Specs of the old rig were: Core 2 Duo, HD 6570, 500 Watt PSU and 4 gb ram w/ Win 7 64 Bit. I got 100-120 FPS constant on all maps and the PC never froze or anything. Recently, the PC refused to start and instead of getting it fixed again, i have decided to replace it.. I will be Re-using the GPU. My Budget is 200$ and i expect a little more 120 Fps.
Now i have two options:
-either buy another used PC with i5 2400 for 130-140$, put the GPU in and install a new PSU.
-Or manage to get a pentium G4400 Rig for arnd 210$

Now, my question is, should i go with the new pentium or older i5 2400, which one will give me more juice for CS GO. Also, if someone has another rig that lies in the 200$ price point, kindly share it with me.

neither:

Pentium G4560 + GA-B250-DS3H + 2x4GB DDR4-2400 and preferably a GTX 1050 Ti (can be added later too).

or i3-8100 + Z370 + 2x4GB DDR4-3000/3200 and preferably a GTX 1050 Ti

another option.

before you buy anything, make sure your power supply is working. it could be the reason your computer won't turn on.

Then save up a bit longer. You shouldn't go any lower then this or you will be buying underpowered and/or ageing hardware.

i5 2400 and G4400 are better than a Core 2 Duo and i was quite happy with it, now which one of the two i5 or pentium will be better? I already waited for 2 months, and i cant wait any longer... i found a lot of people on reddit that have 3rd/2nd gen i5s, but the only reason im considering the pentium is bcz it has a more up to date architecture and that it will be easier to upgrade in the future.

the problem with g4400 is it only has 2 threads. g4560 has 4. don't go lower than g4560.

Please answer these questions.

1. Where are you from?
2. What is your currency?
3. What is your overall budget?
4. Where are you getting all your stuff from? Do they have a website?
5. How much are the i5 2400, and G4400 going for since you're very interested in them, which isn't worth it, unless they're dirt cheap than anything on the market.

G4560, G4600, G4620, R3 1200, or R3 1300x.

The pentium's I listed are all dual-cores with hypertheading. The Ryzen R3 are all quad cores. B250 motherboard for Intel Pentium CPU's, and B350 motherboard for the Ryzen CPU's.

Pakistan
Ruppees
>200$
Different Places, both online and from local shops

Dell OptiPlex 990 MT Desktop Mini Tower ( Used )
• Intel® Core™ i5-2400 Processor (6M Cache, up to 3.40 GHz)
• 4GB DDR3 (2 x 2 GB) DDR3 SDRAM at 1333Mhz
• 320GB SATA
• DVDRW
• 250W PSU
That for 135$, and i will be upgrading the RAM to 8GB and PSU to 400-500W and re-using my old GPU, so that in all, will cost me around 200$.

G4560 is not available over here anywhere online, didnt check the markets yet tho, in case of G4560, ill have to import it. The i5 6100 costs 220$ here (Cheapest Price available) and i3 is around 130$ only processor. Im mainly into the i5 2400, but someone told me that instead of getting the Older i5 get a pentium, if i import the G4560 it will exceed my budget easily.

The Point is all i want is FPS, cuz im only gonna be using the PC for CS GO, a few other light games and browsing around google/youtube/twitch etc. The Older PC that doesnt start now, i got that one for 100$ and paired it witha 70$ GPU ( HD 6570) and it fulfilled all my needs.

Two options.

1. Save up get good stuff that will last you a really long time.

2. Buy the i5 set that you said that comes with everything, replace the PSU with a decent 80+ brozen rated PSU.
