GTX 1080 Idle Temp
So I got a new MSI GTX 1080 8GB Gaming X and I noticed that it was running at 50-60c while i was just browing the internet and sorts. Is this normal or is this too high?

Normal. If you put it to performance rather than Power saving of adaptive it will not downclock under any usage and because fan off under 50C it can get to 45-50C easily.

It's the load temps you need to care about not idle, though, that is a bit warm, I would look to alter the fan profile if it bothered you to have it on at a lower temperature if only slowly.
Edit.

Sorry that link was just to the amazon page for the GPU i bought :P. It doesn't really bother me i just wanted to know if it was too high or not. What would a good/normal temp be for under load (I usually play games like AC Origins, Shadow of War, Wolfenstein, Witcher 3, Battlefield 1 etc. on 1080p High/Ultra Settings)

with this temperature the only trouble is fan noise
;-)

Single card sat around the 60 to mid 70's for a single card for me on a 1080ti ftw3, depending on fan settings, but I didn't run only one often, luckily you are fine with temps into the low 80's before you need to be scared.
10 series seems to hit its max boost clocks below 60c and drops a little bit from there upto 80c ish when it will pull the clocks back upto 100MHz give or take.
Atleast on the Ti's, while the rest of the range is technically a different chip, the whole series follows the same basic thermal reaction regarding boost speeds.

Theoretically even 100° should be fine for a gpu although i probably would start to worry around the 80-90° range under high load.

The highest i've seen my gpu so far is around 80°.

Normal.
My aorus 1080ti at idle is at 56, no fans running.
Gaming at 100% load, I set it for 60-65 which it achieves. Left on default fan settings it would hit 80.

If you want it to be cooler set a fan curve so the fan runs at your choice of RPM at any given temp.

The fan stop is okay but really my 1080 ti gaming x is really quiet and doesn't really need to be totally stopped. Also my Aorus and SC2 1080 ti's are very quiet as well mining in a rig at about 60-65°c under full load with fan speed to match.

Right now I have 58 degrees on my GTX 1060 while browsing internet so it's totally fine.

Lol, I am being worried when my 1060 gets to 60c when gaming
Arya 2017 年 11 月 26 日 上午 4:25
Absolutely normal.

GTX1080s only kick down to idle if their Power Plan tells them to. If they're set to Performance, they'll run at full clock all the time, and that's where you get a 55 degree idle from. You can adjust this by right-clicing your desktop and opening Nvidia settings, then changing the power priority.

That's a very healthy temp for a card running at full clock. You should be pleased with that - you're 17 degrees better than my Asus Strix 1080.

No need to worry, my sli 1080ti's got to the 80's on air (sli always gets hotter) now under water they barely get to 44 hehe

I'm envious. It's summer here in Australia, so sitting next to a GTX1080 running at 68 degrees isn't fun. Not when it's half that temperature outside, and only going to get hotter.

*sigh* Next year I'm building a full liquid rig.

I'd feel sorry for you if I wasn't freezing my butt off in England lol
Mossy Snake 2017 年 11 月 26 日 上午 5:15
That's normal.

My RX 480 stays around 39°-40° when idle.

I would take a look at your fan and power settings though.
