$450 can get you a good high quality IPS 27 inch.
Because AUO is Acer's. ASUS uses a lot of AUO panels in their monitor.
But its hard to compare those twe brands, ASUS makes so many things (I have even a ASUS RAM kit, called ASint.), while Acer does only monitors, laptops and small things.
In monitors I think they are pretty much equal, cheap monitors will be cheap, expensive will be better. Perhaps only that ASUS might have a better RMA service, if anything goes wrong.
asus make good mobo, not bad video cards\laptops and ugly ultrabooks
acer make not bad laptops and ultrabooks
if want good monitor - buy dell... or it's original manufacturer - samsung
What? They are both Taiwanese, where majority of computer components are made.
Surprise, panel wise LG is the leader. They make OLED Monitor and IPS Monitor first.
For reference, IPS panel is LG's. IPS tech panels like PLS is Samsung equivalent. QLED doesn't hold a candle to OLED.
Light gaming, internet browsing, media? -> Acer (more options in the low-medium budget range)
Gaming, light video/audio editing, Adobe? -> Asus or MSI (more & better options medium-high budget range)
Either way you're still better of with a dedicated desktop gaming pc, both in value & upgradability.
Ive had the opposite experience, the customer service of Asus when my laptop broke was a nightmare, and took me allmost 3 months to get a new one, this Asus Rog had a faul on every hardware that was possible, screen, keyboard, battery, harddisk you name it.
The cheap Acer laptop I have on my home theater runs like a charm, and its the best functional Laptop I ever had. My experience is that Acer has better laptops at least.
I bought now a 34" widescreen, and I choose Predator before Asus because of the bad customer service Ive had with Asus
