Quantum Dot
As I have just returned an ACER Predator XB321H monitor because the backlight bleed was horrible and, fed up with the pot luck experience of finding a monitor with acceptable levels, I am beginning to think that the Samsung 49" TV I have with quantum dot technology may be the answer to my need to get a Samsung monitor. I don't need 144hz display as I tend to play games that do not need lightning reactions and i also play flight sims and train sims. The reason I'm interested in QD is because my TV suffers with no, and I mean no, backlight issues. With no signal to the TV the screen is totally black. I also own a PS4 for the best games unavailable to a PC. The UHD and HDR for these games look stunning on my TV with first class blacks.

So I'm wondering if anyone has experienced using a Samsung QD monitor?

Don't bother with TVs, they generally have awful input lag that makes them horrible monitors.

You can get a Quantum Dot monitor, but they're not all that great either. Just get a good monitor and a 40 inch Samsung 7000 series or something along those lines as TV.
My TV in game mode with 4k and hdr is 20ms input lag (not to be confused with 4ms gtg for ips monitors) playing games like the Uncharted series the lag is not a problem. I am more interested in the backlight bleed. If the tv has none I would like to know if Samsung qd monitors have none, or maybe I just got lucky with my tv. I would not consider using my tv as a monitor for my PC as it does not have dislay port so would not be any good with current graphic cards that don't suport hdmi2 for a res >1080p

Even if you get one with good input lag, it'll still suffer from being huge, so you'll keep moving your head around to see things.

Yes, they might have backlight bleeding as well. I've used 3 4k TVs as monitors and they all had backlight bleeding to a noticeable degree, and Quantum Dot has nothing to do with backlight bleeding.

Many GPUs, beginning with the 980 supported HDMI 2.0. But I digress, why do you want a TV? Keep the TV for watching TV and you can even get a big monitor. Philips and Dell make some 4k monitors that are around 40 inch.
even though samsung makes the best displays in the world, in their phones and tvs, i wouldnt recommend using their tvs as monitors cause samsung didnt intend it to be a monitor. also dont use the oled tvs for monitors either because it is possible for a oled burn in to occur because a computer has so much static images.
John Doe, adumbnameduser, if you can't be bothered to properly read my text, then maybe you should keep your comments to yourself. At NO time have I stated that I want to use a tv with my PC.

I did properly read your text and you talked about playing games on a TV, as well as having HDMI 2.0 and a Quantum Dot TV replacing your need for a monitor, all of which lead to USING A TV AS MONITOR.

Scroll up and read what you wrote.

I think you're the one that's incapable of comprehending.
YOU DID NOT PROPERLY READ MY TEXT! Quote:

"So I'm wondering if anyone has experienced using a Samsung QD monitor?"

My tv is purely for my PS4 Pro
Saying TV might be an answer made me misunderstood, sorry.

But yeah, the Quantum Dot monitors aren't too excellent either.

Get a 38 incher if you want a good panel.
did u edit the forum? I couldve sworn u did not say that, when i saw it, nowhere did u mention about u not wanting to use it with the pc, dont try and make me look like the bad guy cause i was trying to explain why shouldnt use it as a monitor, ps4 and pc wise, before u edited the post
You have experience of Samsung QD monitors? I can find no reviews regarding them. My thread has been about backlight bleed which seems to be prevelant in monitors and it's a lottery trying to get a one one that has acceptable levels.
I've seen the 34'er I think on a store, it doesn't look more special than my BDM3275. In fact, mine looks better with 10-bit using RGB scale.

There are couple reviews of it on KitGuru.

The Acer 38 inch is a nice monitor, makes more sense than the Predator 32 IMO. More screen estate, almost as much resolution and 75 HZ.

No edit. The whole point of my text was for anyone with experience of Samsung monitors. If you missed that, well go configure...

Sorry my mistake, either way i have seen a qdot at best buy and it doesnt seem to have colorbleed, but it might be because its a new one on display, i have never really had "experience" with one but ive seen one so... guess i cant really help here
No problems here. I could have explained myself better. Just goes to prove that with all the modern technology, the weakest communication point is with humans. Robots will rule the world oneday. Just ask Arnie 😁
From what I gather QD monitors are TN panels and are complete junk for the high price they command. IPS monitor is superior at that price point.

Also OLED is LG's. Samsung claim QLED is the competitor but it simply isn't. OLED is clear superior.

There are very expensive professional OLED monitor under Dell Ultra Sharp brand I think.
