Mouse upgrade for FPS - worth it?
I'm using a budget Logitech G300 gaming mouse which is optical, capable of quickly switching between preset DPI values and has configurable buttons. I'm considering to buy a G502 or some Razer product. Their DPI range is obviously much higher but I don't expect any functional benefits other than better precision (current one already has DPI switch and buttons).

I recently started to play more FPS games but I'm pretty bad at them so it's not that I'm looking for the small plus to make me elite. Should I expect an improvement in my reactions, aiming etc? How much better these mid-classes devics are?

well look on the settings of the top 100 CSGO player. 95% are below 1000 DPI and the other 5% are still below 1200 DPI and all use a Sensitivty of 1-4...

but yes of course it is a personal palystyle just curios that all the top players have pretty much the same settings.

Edit:

It makes it easier, especially for a game like counter strike where it's all one direction and not to much spinning the camera around to change direction to behind you.
I grew up on the old traditional shooters so quake, unreal etc with their crazy death matches requiring you to always be turning, so I learned to play like that, I prefer small subtle sensitive movements, it allows for more accuracy and I turn in-game right down to compensate, and I'd say the habit and style grows from the games you played, with 20 years of playing high dpi low in-game I don't think I'd be able to swap.

Saying that low dpi where you need to move your mouse alot is far easier if you can get used to it, my high dpi low in-game has pretty much zero benefit and is hard to adapt to and can be very twitchy, so it's easy to see why people end up going low dpi.

I've got G502 mouse and I love it. All the buttons are in the right places and easy to use. The software is also straightforward. It's got the same sensor as the G900, but it's much better value for money. I don't think the G900 is worth all that extra money just for being wireless.

I have my DPI set at 800 DPI for desktop and shooters.

Personally, I didn't buy my G900 for it being wireless, and it's NOT a wireless mouse either. You can use it either wireless or wired.

Also, since I have big hands my palm finger kept resting on the side button rather than the side rest spot, which I didn't like. G900 is ambidextrous so I don't have that problem with it.
If you want more accurate control, you want around 1000 polling rate. You either get this through the mouse itself, or through special hardware like asrock fatality boards which have custom software/slots that forces higher polling rates at the cost of higher cpu usage. The asrock board is specifically mentioned because normal overclocking of the mouse usb can cause damage to the usb iirc that's not intentionally built to support it like the fatality boards do.

Logitech g403 or zowie ec2 series

These are some good options as well. I had an EC1 Evo all the way back in 2012 and it was a great mouse.
