In over 10 years my brother and I have ***NEVER*** had it interfere with Steam or games downloading, nor any false positives.
I don't know how mcafee still exists. That thing slowed my system to a crawl when I tried a trial of it one year.
You mean Defender? LOL, it's the main reason for Win10 running "slow"
I havent seen it using any more resources than other AV
And the user must still configure it properly, like excluding things like Steam root folder is very helpful.
Realistically no other AV will catch a real threat that's not in it's definitions either. Heuristics are useless against encryption and polymorphism
and for that exact same reason I dont use an AV at all... I dont download despite on trusted sites like steam itself and dont atatch massdrives that I dont know outside of containers
It was designed to stop a mass spreading BotNet (hackers infected unsecured pcs with remote access backdoors to ddos, spam, and bounce attacks off). Windows merely updates it with the most commonly known virus definations to clean.
It scores 0.5 out of 5 in protection levels with AV Testing.
On the other hand, application control + firewall was considered the best performance and protection. Such as Kaspersky Internet Security or MalwareBytes, scoring 4.9 out of 5.
