Mad Catz Rat 3.
Can anyone recommend this mouse? I love the shape and the fact that it has an optical sensor. Is it good? Bad? Need recommendations.

Had it for a week, disliked it heavily, because it didn't feel stiff enough - if you play low sens and lift a lot, it might be not your type of mouse. For mid / high sens and casual gaming i could see people enjoying it.

A friend of mine has that mouse. I really don't like it. But he loves it for some reason tho.

Mad Catz is dead, don't buy from them.

Their warranties may not work and I doubt their software is even available anymore.

while not the same mouse, i used a mad catz mmo7 for a couple of years, i found it accurate, and comfy as all hell, the problem was it sort of broke ... alot ... i had 5 of them i think .... but each was replaced under warranty each time until the shop i got it form no longer stocked (pc world) it and they gave me a full refund (lol).

it was the side thumb buttons that kept breaking, they just were just too damn fragile, as they were only a millimeter or 2 thick and activted by flexing, depending how hard you are on your mouse, you could be fine, but, id make sure you get the mouse localy so you can quickly swap it out for a new one if it breaks.

its a shame, as it was a crazy comfy mouse to use, shame madcatz is no more so i dont know how well they will be supported any more regarding replacements and software.

Alright thanks for the input. If it's this many mixed reactions I'll probably look into the Logitech G302 or G303.

Probably a safer bet. Sadly, as it was a great mouse when it worked lol

Haha, true. I did do more research and the G302 seems to have a "safer" shape. Not to mention other Mad Catz mice are priced at above $100 and still have laser sensors. Not worth it honestly.

I owned a RAT Tournament Edition for a couple of years, and still have it as a backup mouse. Overall I really liked it, it was very light and had strong accuracy and a comfortable grip. The key downsides were the fragile design and poor software - there was very little leeway for tuning the sensor, and somebody with heavier hands may well have broken the mouse over extended use.

But treated nicely it lasted me two years, before being replaced with a Logitech G900 CS.

I would recommend Logitech or Steelseries. They both offer the performance you want, backed up by strong construction and good customer support.

Thanks for the recommendation. I found my old deathadder and turns out I still got a warranty on it, so I'm just gonna RMA it.

Don't bother with Razer products. The company has always had a bad reputation for quality, but it's gotten a lot worse over the last few years. They're to be avoided.

Just get a cheap Corsair, Logitech or Steelseries. That way we won't be having this exact conversation again in 6 months time.
