Creative Sound Blaster Audigy FX vs integrated sound?
My birthday closes up and I always wish myself something nice (and not too expensive).
The Rem (Re-Zero) anime plush is already on its way but had the idea to buy something technological too.

Would be a Creative Sound Blaster Audigy FX a noticable change over my Realtek AL892 (Elna Audio caps) or you need pay for a better one to note adifference?

many stupid responses - I have a mobo with a nice fancy sabre dac - and guess what, just like many other Giga or Asus mobo customers will tell you, the lowly Audigy FX will kick the crap out the on-board solution for a multitude of reasons.

I am very happy to necro here, because if I found this, someone else will.

In nearly ALL cases, any relevant Sound Blaster card will blow the on board out of the water - yes, even than $40 Audigy FX. The only way to be better than THAT, is to go toslink or whatever its called or USB have an out of the pc thing going on, but thats going to be more expensive than spending up to $100 on a nice enough sound card.

On board sucks, it doesnt have to, but hey, mobo makers love to throw a spec on the box without properly supporting it, and realtek is utter ♥♥♥♥ when it comes to software and tools.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
