Is this motherboard compatible with a Ryzen 5 1600X?
I've got this motherboard with a Pentium g4560 and an RX 480, performance is fine for most games but I'm wondering for future upgrades if I'd have to replace the entire board to use Ryzen CPU's.
Board I'm referring to:

6th/7th Gen Pentium is barely on-par with AMD Ryzen 1200/1300X
1600X is closer to that of any 4-Core i5 class of CPU for the most part (all overclocking aside)

Why would you "have to go Ryzen" ?
Just grab any 7th Gen i5 or i7 and it will be a huge step up. B250 supports the full range of Intel 7th Gen CPUs + DDR4 2400 Mhz; you just can not OverClock on B250 Chipsets.

No, Ryzen uses a different socket and chipset.

If you want to upgrade get a i5 7600k or i7 7700k
yes but cheaper for more game performance would be to simply buy one of the i7-7700K that currently go for pretty cheap. It is compatible with that mother board and offers more performance in games. you simply wouldnt be able to overclock the i7.

If you how ever want a Ryzen get the 1600 instead of the 1600X. Its the same CPu just that the normal one comes with a CPu and the X is factory OC'ed. You can OC it yourself. Also Ryzen is highly depending on faster then 2400MHz RAM which you mostlikely dont have witzh a B250M motherboard.
Yes, youd need a new motherboard..

an Intel system is not Compatible with AMD CPUs
Just like AMD systems are not compatible with Intel CPUs.

And the B series Intel boards ARE NOT the same as the B series Ryzen boards.
Alright, thanks for the help and suggestions.
I'll look into the 17 7700k.
Check to see if there is a store location near you for www.MicroCenter.com (at the top menu is available locations) as MC offers in-store pricing much lower then any retailer when it comes to things like CPUs. They offer i7 class of CPUs in-store-price for what i5 class goes for elsewhere online.

If you do buy an i5 or i7 "K" model, you will require a 3rd party cooler.
Something like this would do nicely:

can't overclock on the b250 motherboard. get a non-k cpu.
Still have a higher Base & Turbo, it's not a total waste.

that's true. but he'd have to buy a separate cooler. not worth the added cost, imo.
Ok, well the included cooler with a non-K 7700 is simply not good enough anyways...
Less you want it running at 75-85*C all day long.
if you want to go amd, you could get the 1600 with stock cooler and mobo for about $250. then you could sell your old mobo and cpu.
