Steam makes my fan go crazy?
The front Fan in my Desktop fluctuates when Steam is open. It sounds like a revving engine every 2-3 seconds. When I close Steam it stops. When I do anything else, it doesnt do it. Only when Steam is open and it started doing this randomly the day before yesterday. Any suggestions?

Then either set the fan to "DC" in the BIOS, or hook it up to the Power Supply.

Mine started doing this too a few days ago. Must be some new update that messed with something. My fan boosts then fades 3 second intervals just like yours. This is all on a perfectly clean win10 install and steam install. Maybe they will update it/fix it. I've never had this problem before.

well it only happens so far as I read the hundreds of other comments on steam because of a steam update. It has nothing to do with Nvidia or the GPU at all but a conflict on Open-GL espacially with Dell/Alienware.

If you look into the forum (espacially help and tipps) you have plenty comments how to solve the issue by updating a patch.

Come to find out, The lights on the sides of my computer were blinking in sync with the fan. I needed to reinstall Alienware Command Center. I don't know why Steam was the only program to trigger this electronic malfunction but everything works now. :steamhappy:
