My 2gb Radeon R7 has only 512mb dedicated video memory?

I recently bought a new laptop with the specs listed below. In the product description is said it had 2gb Radeon R7 graphics however its is only coming up as 512mb in display adapter properties. I find this pretty strange as my old radeon R5 had 1024mb of dedicated video memory. Any feed back or potential fixes you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

r7 graphics could be anything. install cpu-z and it should give you a proper list.

Ps, it sounds like you've got a laptop/AIO onboard gpu/IGP.

Integrated videochips dynamically allocate RAM, they don't need much while using the desktop, so they use less.
But, using more RAM does not mean it will compute faster. So, using more RAM as VideoRAM will not make the game run faster.

Yea its just a laptop with intergrated graphics. Im not looking to run any seriously demanding games I'm just wondering why this is less than was stated in the product description and why its seems to be less powerful than my old gpu.
What you seem to be saying is it doesnt really matter as it just uses my computer's RAM?

Exactly, integrated videochips don't have any of their own RAM so they leech part of your system's RAM.

If you scroll way down to the game section there's a few games ( not many) that it'll play.

If it's onboard the GPU, it has a range of VRAM, all shared from system RAM.
If it's a phsyical GPU card, then the VRAM is set at one single value, as per whats installed on the Card, GPU-Z can fully ID that GPU.

Also are there two Radeon GPUs present or just one?
As some Laptops may have two Radeons, one onboard the APU and also one dedicated Radeon GPU that is seperate. However many System Specs apps might only see the one that is onboard the CPU, by default.

GPU-Z or SPECCY should show ALL your GPUs if there are multiples.

"dedicated video memory" is the non-virtual memory the card uses. If you are using too much, it'll start using virtual video memory. At least, that's what I know.

You're wrong by the way.
The integrated videochip has no dedicated RAM of its own. Not enough space in the CPU for that.

It entirely uses shared RAM.
