Secondly, the buzzing you're hearing is static from the power plug being picked up by the soundcard. I know it's annoying, but with a laptop there's very little you can do about it. The issue is a lack of shielding on the soundcard - a part you can't really access.
When your laptop is running off battery, it will do everything possible to save energy and make the battery last as long as possible. One way it can do ttat is by reducing the flow of power through parts like the graphics card - effectively "underclocking" it. Obviously you lose a lot ofv performance, but you gain battery life.
Plugging the laptop in means it has all the power it could ever need, and frees up the CPU and GPU to run at full potential. That gives a major boost to performance.
No because you can switch to high performance even on battery to run full power.
The difference is the output of the battery, which is usually no where near what the AC Adapter can output; so when you have this issue, your battery simply can not provide full CPU/GPU performance at 100% loads like the AC power adapter can; its that simple really.
I have used some Laptops where you can actually run the full performance when running off the battery. However most laptops come with the cheapest battery possible, and typically do not design them with high performance while on battery, in mind.
Some laptops have better, higher capacity (# of Cells + MAH) available as well, which can of course help.
Not at all. Only thing that comes of that is the battery health declining. Its best to use the laptop on battery regularly (just not to game obviously)
No, that's completely fine. Urban myth says it causes extra battery wear, but I recently checked over a friend's four year old laptop that's been run off charger almost all of it's life. The battery was absolutely fine.
I admit that's a small sample size to judge from, but it does make me doubt the claim that it noticably increases battery wear.
