Black screen when SLI is enabled, I found a solution but dont know how to execute
Hello everyone,

I have a Lenovo Y510P with 2x GT 755m SLI.

I have always played with SLI disabled and everything was fine (except for the 30 fps). So after I have enabled my SLI my game started crashing with black screens.

When I start playing I get 150 fps, after a while it goes down to 30 fps and I get the black screen (or vice versa).

After 10 hours searching on the web and trying different procedures I found this tutorial, but I didnt understand exactly how to perform it.

http://www.mikromot.com/genel/nvidia-gt-755m-sli-and-gt-750m-sli-problem-fix-2427.html

I have tried to perform it but got no success.

The zip contains 3 files: default, undervolt, undervolt & underclock. (.bat)

I have done the following steps:

1 - Double clicked "undervolt & underclock"
2 - Opened Nvidia Inspector
3 - Double clicked "undervolt & underclock"

After these steps my settings are not the same of the second picture, the only think that is the same is the "samsung" field. (check the images in the link)

Do you think the person who wrote the tutorial mistyped the file you should run before or after opening the Nvidia Inspector?

Any thoughts?

What I've tried so far:

1 - clean install of new drivers (using DDU)
2 - change my memory clock offset using this guide https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-P-Y-and-Z-series/Y510p-SLI-CS-GO-Freeze-nvlddmkm-Crash/m-p/3426621#M148065

Thanks in advance

Usually you're supposed to use the last video card in the config from top to bottom as the video output.
It's also the top one not bottom card, most of the time. The only time it wouldn't be is if the pcie 16x lanes are in a different order.

As for sli oddities, which game is it ?
As a rule of thumb you should be using sli and only disabling one card if you have issues, otherwise, why spend a fortune on sli to begin with.
I would also make sure you aren't somehow running off the integrated GPU somehow.

Not all games like sli, the majority won't have any real issues if it isn't supported though, and simply disabling it for the game in question, or looking for a profile using nvidia inspector can often work.

Beyond that get MSI afterburner and you should be able to ramp up the fans speed to help keep the temps under control a bit better.
While you are at it, make sure to only use the laptop on a hard surface, you could help it's airflow by getting a couple of bits of wood and using them at the edges to raise the laptop off your desk a little bit more allowing heat to better escape.

Wrell the OP's laptop has two NVIDIA GTX755m GPU's inside it. It is actually quite fascinating how Lenovo pulled it off.
Heat pipes, many many heat pipes I suspect :)

LOL...they had a proprietary PCIe bridge that connected to the loading bay pins.
I was more refering to how they managed the heat, the connections are pretty easy.

Gonna keep people warm at night that is for sure
though admittedly the OP has a pretty solid gaming laptop.
