Got an old rig.
So, got an old rig here.

It's an HP Pavilion Elite HPE-210y rig with a H-RS880-uATX (Aloe) motherboard and I'm wondering guys, what's the most powerful GPU and PSU combination can you get for it that's about 100 to 130ish dollars price range? I'm looking into upgrading the old girl as her processor and the like still holds up well, it's just the PSU and the GPU it currently has that's bottlenecking it.

I was looking into a Radeon 6870 or a GTX 660 with a Corsair CX750 750W but I'm not sure. Not even sure if the PSU would even fit my case... or the card for that matter.

It has a tiny HD 5450 currently for reference.

you can find the specs here

https://support.hp.com/hk-en/document/c01925486

not worth the upgrade to be honest

a GTX 1050 should work in it for a vid card depending on your PSU maybe a 1050 ti

as you will need a plug from the PSU for a 1050 ti

CPU wise your board supports the list they show on the support site

you'll need a bigger budget to upgrade both CPU and vid card and the bang for the buck won't
be worth it .. your better off with a new PC

Yes but I'm looking for peoples' opinions on what's the best combination for it for your buck.

Anything you put in that machine is probably going to be bottlenecked by the CPU.

exactly he is better off with a cheap intel based motherboard and Pentium G 4560

then buy a GTX 1050 ti card (or better ) + ram

It has a Phenom II X4 945. You sure it's not worth anything?

not much maybe 12 bucks i'll go look it up
Omega Nov 8, 2017 @ 1:38pm
The CPU itself is worth maybe $20.

Alright, although, as far as I know it is capable of running BF1 if it had the right card.

that CPU sells for like 8 or 10 bucks ..do i wanna run BF in on that .. NO

Humm, guess you have a point. It was just a nice idea of upgrading the old girl to something a little better... I realized the processor wasn't as ♥♥♥♥ as I thought it was so it got me thinking "Why not make a cheapo gaming rig out of it?". *Shrugs*

try getting a new vid card first then // start with a GTX 1050 or GTX 1050 ti if your power supply has a cable for a PCI express power connector

you may be bottlenecked tho as Omega already pointed out .. that CPU you have is quite old and HP is not Known for the best overclockable or feature rich bios's

in fact every one i ever worked on SUCKED and had very limited options

Mhm, that's the idea is getting a new card and power supply for it. The only things that are bottle-necking it would be the current card and power supply it has.

If it can run at least medium settings and have stable FPS I'd be fine with that... which this build should have.

So, that's why I asked what power supply and card combo would be the best on the cheap here.

many of the GTX 1050 cards require no power connector
evga makes some small ones too that will fit any case

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16814487295

should work without a new PSU

Wow, I did not know that... thanks man. Yeah, I figured I needed a PSU for it. So when I saw the price it shyed me away from the 1050 series with that in mind.

It defiantly should fit the case, the 5450 it has in it now is a little smaller than that.

right now it has a crappy ole 1 gig HD 7750 in it in think .. i only use it to watch tv online ..no gameing
