Upgrading Asus ROG g20 AJ graphics card *Help/tips appreciated*

Hello, I'm in the proccess of upgrading my Asus ROG G20 from a Nvidia 750 to the much better 1070 Nvidia founders edition. Assume I am somewhat experienced with upgrading a card but have never used a 1070. Waht should I know going in? What should I do for power consumption? If I remember I'd need to upgrade my brick or adapter (Don't remember which)? Because the 1070 draws a larger amount of power than the smaller 750, what else should I take into account?

You need a new PSU most likely (depends on if you actually have the 750 or the 760, the 760 use as much power as 1070). The review I can find for that model only states 760.

I have the 750... so what should I look into for a new PSU?

you need a 500 watt power supply with a 8-pin PCi-e power connector for GTX 1070.
And enough space in your casing to fit the card.

You're not good until you determine if the unit has a PCI-E power cable like Cloud Boy said and you get the additional power adapter depending on which one you have now.

I think i could help you out. since you have the gtx 750 version, this will be very confusing. ( i have both the gtx 760 and gtx 750 version) based on the site , the version you have should have come with a 230 watt brick so you will need the 180 watt ( saw one on ebay for 35 bucks ) the tray where gpu is secured is pretty limited but . asus turbo, msi aero and other blower style gpu should fit. i fitted mine with a evga sc 1070 which is a bit larger in with but it still fits snuggly. if you ever want to upgrade to a non blower style. ide recomment that you remove the oval shaped grill for maximum cooling. search for drewon on youtube it will really help you with the bits and pieces like moving the pin terminals at the right place.one more thing though. when you open you will probably notice that the the socket where you plug in the 230w is named gpu input yet on the site 180 is the gpu input , just ignore it, i found that to be really wierd but its the 180w which powers the gpu ( tested it because i went on putting a 780 which has a max tdp of 250) and ♥♥♥♥ didnt work

the computer came with one 6 pin and one 8 pin pretty much plug and play on that regard. other versions of the 1070 sometimes needs two 6 pin or just one 8 pin. the 8 pin that came with tge computer can be turned to 6 pin by sliding the left lide terminal head

Just finished benchmarking it, I can run every single of my 325 games on ultra with an uncapped 70 fps while keeping the core temp under 90 degrees C

whci card did you buy? did you remove the oval grill on the side panel, its better to remove that for better cooling performance

I got an EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 over-clocked, removed the grating and downloaded PresicionX for steam to control fan speeds

EVGA 1070 SuperClocked. well happy new year!!. just opened my system earlier to add ssd and i realized there little bracket that holds the gpu( you only have this on the gtx 760 version. would post pictures if i can though, but it shouldn't be a problem. which site did you buy the 180w adapter from?

I forget his name but there was this Australian youtuber who did a video on how to install the card and he linked the adapter I'd need in the bottom ofthe vid, since it was amazon I got it for a snag price.

you can also increase the the fanspeed for the cpu and the whole system via the aegis app that came with the computer.i really recommend it since we both have a non blower style gpu which usually exaust the hot air from the gpu at the back
