How to properly set the maximum processor frequency?
I just need help finding out what would be the best MHz to set my Maximum Processor Frequency. im new to computers so i dont really know anything helpful.

It is automatic when the system is under 100% load.

You do not need to configure anything.

There is no set "maximum" to overclock. It depends upon a bunch of other hardware and a liittle bit of luck. Being new to computers I would advise you to do a lot researchiing first before overclcoking anything.

^This.

Research first before you get started, also what CPU, and motherboard do you have?
it isn't much really... that's the whole reason im trying to get the most i can out of it. here's the specs. Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-5020U CPU @ 2.20GHz
Speed: 2195 Mhz
HyperThreading: Supported
Video Card:
Driver: Intel(R) HD Graphics 5500

if there's any more information that would be helpful i would be more than happy to supply it.. i want to get the max fps i possibly can. i know that cs:go is optimized really good, but sometimes i get a really bad lag spike in my fps.

You cannot and probably should not overclock that.

Laptops are hot enough
well i was just looking at the settings and noticed that the maximum processor frequency is set to 0MHz.... im not very knowledgeable on computers but that seems like there should be a number there instead of 0 right?

like shouldn't it be like 2.20 or something like that? considering each core can run at that speed?

Where are you seeing this at WheroLoco? Also you can't, and shouldn't overclock a laptop.
0 means automatic.

The reason you get lag spikes in game, or FPS DIPS actually, is because you DO NOT HAVE A 3D GPU.

You are using integrated graphics on a low to mid range laptop.

I think WuercoLoco is looking at Windows Power Plan settings. the maximum processor frequency setting has no bearing on CPU performance leave it at zero, this will allow the CPU to managuage its own speed deeping on power and thermal limits
alright. thank you so much guys. and you were right C2Dan88. i was looking at it in the power plan settings. i know this was probably a big waste of your time lol. but i was ignorant so if you want to look at it as teaching someone something new then you didn't waste your time lol.

oh actually there was one more question that i had... i couldnt find anything on this either.... in environment variables there's something called processor_level and the value is 6... should i leave that alone? or could it help to slightly bump that number up?

You do not go about messing with Widnows settings to make you CPU faster.

The correct way to make your CPU run faster is by overclocking it by entering the BIOS and setting the CPU multipler higher (if available) or by adjsting the bus speed. As you are on a laptop these options will most likely not be availble to you.
alright. i could research how to do that but since you are telling me i shouldnt mess with it since it is just a laptop, ill just leave it be. thank you so very much!
