The desktop equivalent is the NVIDIA GTX950. If you are using a laptop, you are stuck with the GPU chip inside it.

About on par with a GTX 460

Wrong, the desktop 950 is almost twice as fast.

Err whut... The GTX 950m has a significantly slower performance as compared to the GTX 950

Oooooo... Since I have a GTX 460( Technically), how did I managed to scrape 30 fps on a heavily unoptimised game( Batman Arkham Knight) lol

Yeah just ignore Edmund for the most part, in regards to equivalent performance I'd say a 660 perhaps on a good day, probably closer to a 560, the problem is the mobile versions are wayyy less Powerful prior to the 10 series when they finally got full fat gpu's in mobile.
Add to that, the problem that the 950 s not really a gaming GPU so the mobile version is already based on a weak GPU as it is, means you need to go back several generations to get equivalent performance.

I did say on a good day and it would be closer to a 560, I wasn't far off given I was going off estimated performance based on knowledge not actual numbers hehe, guess I overestimated the 950 a bit with the 660, atleast I was pretty accurate with it trading blows with the 560, which is a tweaked 460 really.

Oh... Do you think I can run any modern games such as the evil within 2, hellblade or maybe wolfenstein?

As I suggest to anyone on borderline or low end kit buy it on steam and try it, you have 2 hours of playtime in which you can ask for a refund.
Sure, you'll be able to play them, but how good the experience is what really needs to be asked, if you don't mind low and 30fps I suspect you'll be fine, just about.

Not at playable speed.

Wrong...though they are not the same chip family....The 900 series is a different architecture family than the 900M series. The 950M is based on the GTX750 but provided similar performance.

No, GTX 950M is very weak, only about on-par with performance from something like GT-730 or GTS-450 at best. It is very weak.

GTX 970M is only as good as maybe GTX 950 series, so keep that in mind.

Now if you were to get a Laptop with i5 or i7 MQ/HQ varient + GTX 10xx series GPU, these newer Mobile GPUs are the same performance as the Desktop variant. Where as previous gen mobile GPUs were highly cut-down versions, no where near the Desktop version by the same model name.

GTX 970M is probably around GTX 960 level, with the GTX 980M in between 960 and 970. GTX 980M is equal to GTX 780, whereas GTX 960 is only 15% faster than the 760 and nowhere near 780. GTX 970 is roughly equal to 780 Ti.

But yea, GTX 950M is very weak. Hardly much better than Intel GPUs.
GTX 1050 Mobile is a huge step up.
