MSI B350M Gaming Pro Mobo Best RAM support?
like the title says. thats my mobo and i plan to get a ryzen 5 1600 and i wanted to know the best route in terms of RAM. i dont really want to overclock because i dont need the absolute best. i currently have my eye on two corsair vengeance lpv ddr4 3000 mhz sticks. is that good enough? i heard ryzen is ram hungry so more ram makes a difference. and i also saw that my board supports 3200mhz (OC) but can it handle that normally without OC? ty

Any RAM speed above 2400mhz is overclocked.

This mobo does not support 3000mhz RAM. You can use it just fine but it will run at 2933mhz.

The RAM needs to be overclocked, Those RAM modules are made to run at those speeds. All you need to do is enable AMP for the RAM to run at the correct speed and timings.

Ryzen is not RAM hungry but it likes fast RAM. 3000mhz or higher is recommended.

Always get two sticks for dual channel. It should only cost $10 more at most and you will get nearly doubble RAM speeds.

main reason i brought up the 3000 mhz oc is cuz it's on the box for my mobo. i can turn settle for 2 sticks for lower mhz if i need to. power supply is 500w +80. i just wanna find which two sticks of ram would be best for what i have lined up. ryzen 5 1600 is really appealing to me.

Get two sticks of 3000mhz or 3200mhz 2x8gb since the motherboard only has two slots.

Don't forget to enable AMP in the BIOS.

now if i enable AMP in the bios, how much hotter could my pc possibly get?

It will be the same. The speeds will be increased and the voltage should remain more or less the same 0.1v +/-. There will be no difference. AMP should always be enabled if you have RAM with a AMP/XMP profile.

You don't need to worry about temps of anything except the CPU and GPU. The hot air in the case should be exhausted by a fan on the back of the case. As long as the CPU cooler is properly mounted and there is nothing wrong with the GPU you don't need to worry about heat.

cool. thanks. i'll stick with the two 3000mhz sticks. feeling really confident about my build.

didnt think about it until now. im not worried about it too much. if anything i'll settle for 2400mhz or 3000 mhz. im changing a few things in terms of the build i was following. mainly changing the processor and card. processor was a ryzen 3 1300x i changed it to a ryzen 5 1600 card was a gtx 1060 3gb sc i changed it to a 6gb sc

use 2666, nothing more.

2800 or higher require higher voltage; which you shouldn't do on cheap boards.
